I have tried to get this to work with no luck so far.  I have tried 2 different table versions that are in the XML document, Dolly and Eight Ball Deluxe.  I get the message "No Previous ROM Found".  I am running PinballX version 1.78 and this is not the first time running these tables, so the messages in the log don't help very much.  Any guidance is appreciated.  I am attaching the log.

I think you haven't set the nvram path right in pinballx , you probably don't get the hiscores as well in the menu in pinballx because of this.

The plugin uses the statistics.ini from pinballx , you should check to see if that one gets filled (you can find it in the databases directory)

The statistics.ini file is populated with correct high score data, etc, but I notice on most tables in this file, the ROM= is blank, including these two.  I do show hi scores in the PinballX Menu information tab.

 

In the PinballX setup screens, the Visual Pinball NVRAM Path is:  C:\program files\visual pinball\VPinMame\nvram

 

Interestingly, on my desktop version of PinballX, this path is blank, and the scores submit fine (not using the plugin).

 

The issues I'm having are on a new cab version.

 

Looking at the log file from playing some today, I see that it did find ROMs for a couple of tables, but they weren't supported, so no scores were sent for those either.

 

Any other suggestions?

you could check the pinemhi.ini to see if the nvram path is fine in there, that's what pinballx uses to get the hiscores and fill the statistics.ini

the line should end with a backslash \ to work properly

 

Maybe the other working games in statistics.ini are future pinball games?

The pinemhi_leaderboard.ini did have an incorrect path for nvram.  I corrected that, but still no-go.

 

I did notice that all tables in pinballx\databases\visual pinball\visual pinball.xml are <enabled>True</enabled>

 

but all tables in pinballx\pinemhi leaderboard VP.xml are <enabled>False</enabled>

 

should those be enabled, as well?

 

I really want this to work, but it's getting frustrating.

 

P.S.  Can you provide a VP cabinet table/version that you know someone has successfully submitted hi sores via the PinballX plugin?  I can then just focus on testing/experimenting with that 1 table.

If you have the pinemhi.ini nvram path corrected then the statistics.ini should  be filled.

You would have to run a game twice to check if it does.

First time it will say that it couldn't find the previous rom...

The second time it will register (i hope)

If that works then the plugin should work.

This really is a problem with the pinballx config (as pinemhi is already in the installation of pinballx and it doesn't write the rom to the statistics.ini)

Do you run every exe as admin?

 

You don't need to use the pinemhi xml file......it's just there if you want a selection of only the pinemhi tables in your menu (you will have to enable the tables that you have to make it work of course)

If you use the original tablenames in your visual pinball.xml then the plugin will send the scores

The xml consist of the gamename for instance attack from mars (williams) and the tablename attack from mars vp9.21 FS or something , as long as the tablename is original it should work , the gamename is used to match artwork and stuff.

 

You could attach the pinemhi.ini ,pinemhi_leaderboard.ini and the statistics.ini , maybe i can find the problem.

Keep in mind that you delete the code before attaching it otherwise everyone knows it.

 

But first check if it registers in statistics.ini if you run the game twice ( romname= )

I thought I only needed the pinemhi_leaderboard* files that were in the Plugin download.

 

So, I need all the pinemhi* files, plus the pinemhi_leaderboard* files for this to work?

pinemhi is part of the pinballx installation, so it should already be in the pinballx dir.

 

pinemhi is used for getting the hiscores out of the roms , it's part of the pinballx installation nowadays

pinemhi leaderboard is used to send the scores (don't have to be hiscores) to the website, all you need is in the plugin for that.

Success!!!   

 

After I put the pinemhi* files back, it works!  I originally renamed them because PinballX was starting up sideways on my backglass monitor, so I thought there was a conflict.  It turns out that the incorrect path for the nvram must have been causing that.

 

I see that with the plugin version, the scores are sent automatically without asking first.  I guess to prevent all scores from being sent, I can just disconnect my internet connection until there is a score that is worthy of posting.

I'm trying to update my pincab to PinballX. I set the ini files with paths & id, but I doubt the score is sent (tried with baywatch), can u confirm ? 

 

Got the same "ROM=" blank in the statistics file, what could I have made wrong ?

Nice to see you play the tables again

 

It probably is the same problem as kbjaxman had.

the path needs to be set in pinemhi.ini  (it is part of the pinballx installation)

This will make sure the romnames are filled in statistics

I see no score of baywatch but later on i see this score:

So hopefully this one was done with the plugin and you solved the problem

 

I think you will find the plugin works a lot easier

Unfortunately Dracula's score was on my laptop, not PinballX but the usual pinemhi frontend. 

 

I changed the paths in both pinemhi.ini and pinemhi_leaderboard.ini so I don't know why the ROM aren't all right. Got to check this again

yes that looks ok.

i can remember that i had a bit of a problem myself in the beginning.

it had something to do with not using the configuration utility from pinballx to set the path for pinemhi

somehow it made a double \\  in the path at the end

maybe you should try it without the last \ in the utility or try it without the last \ in the pinemhi.ini

just try to set it first with the config utility from pinballx

if that doesn't work then you can try it without the last \ , first in the config utility and if that doesn't work you can try setting it without the last \ in pinemhi.ini

I don't see the pinemhi settings in pinballx config wizard : it may explain I got this wrong ? I tried all modes (basic, advanced and search) but found nothing pinemhi related

 

Tried to delete the last "\" in both pinemhi and pinehmi_leaderboard ini files, but it didn't change anything, still no score submitted, and no score in the statistics file, with blank ROM.

 

I wanted to see the log file (like the one posted in first post here) but it looks that I don't have any, I think I really missed something

It's the nvram dir in the visual pinball section in the pinballx config.
It doesn't say pinemhi or something like that.
Try that one with or without the \ on the end

But have you activated the plugin ? (since you have no logging, that could be the case)
Use the plugin manager in the pinballx dir to enable it if you haven't done that yet
What version of pinballx are you running ? (it should be 1.76 or higher)

Indeed ! I didn't see the plugin manager. Now it's activated and I have the log file below, but still no score/rom (with or without "\" in ini files)

It's the last version of pinballx but I don't know where to find the version number.

 

For nvram folder in pinballx wizard I dont see it either. I got the fpram in FP section but nothing in VP one ?

Ok , it looks to me there are some settings in pinballx not set.
If you run the pinballx setup wizard and go to to the visual pinball section.
There you will see NVRAM Path.
This should point to your nvram directory, this shouldn't have the \ at the end.
This wil make sure pinemhi works with pinballx.
Once you have done this , pinballx recognizes the roms and fills them in the statistics file.

But you have another problem , the tablename didn't get filled in statistics file
Maybe you can send a portion of the statistics.ini file and the log from pinballx to see what goes wrong.
