Been seeing various posts about new features such as the analog supoort kodiac was implementing, and ball mass, 3d glasses support, etc
Was wondering if and when we might see an update version of vp?
Any news or info would be much appreciated

I wish an update could include DirectX 10 or even 11 support... PhysX...
(yeah, I know it's not really feasible, but a nice pipe dream nevertheless
)
Or something like native second screen support like in that experimental version of VP... what happened to that, anyone know why it was abandoned?
It could avoid having to run UVP... theoretically an instant performance boost.

Talk to ManoWar - the reason dual screen was 'abandoned' as you say is because ManoWar never fixed it to work on Windows 2000/Vista/Windows 7. It would only work on specific configurations of windows XP which makes it useless for a large portion of our current user base. He also ignores emails from me, so, ....

I can confirm that Manofwar's last 2 screen version that I got on a Spanish forums worked great for me on XP, but since I got a new pc with Windows7 it is a no go, crashes immediately.

Yes Bob - those changes were checked in months ago.

would love to see the new VP be able to handle Sterns Whitestar sound roms better. Very low and crackly currently.

They play perfectly on an Ultrapin. So your crackly issue is probably due to other demands on your individual configuration. Not necessarily a problem with the pc not being fast enough, more an issue of other processes or drivers handling features pinmame doesn't use, causing a slow down.

so you don't get distortion when the roms volume is up past 15? I get it on nearly all Sterns whitestars...except monopoly which plays fine.

On my Ultrapin, no I didn't. I lowered the audio bitrate to 22050 as that is what it uses (Mono). Setting windows to prioritize background processes helped too. Realize Ultrapin now runs rather old hardware, and old video drivers, It also ran an older version of VP before Alpha Ramps (VP 9.03). but I could turn the sound up to full 32 without clipping with emulated sound.
I just tried my old VP9 release table (no alpha ramps) with my desktop pc and VP9.03 and it runs flawlessly at full volume with no crackling.
VP 9.12 has a little crackle on some speech clips, so it could be that VP is trying to do much more than it used to in order to push up the hardware requirements to get clean sound.

so what can I change in my system to get clear sound out of the whitestars? I have a 3 speaker setup with bass speaker. Figured a new virtuapin could handle almost anything.

How do CD's / mp3's sound?
If they sound great, like I'm sure they do, then it's not the VirtuaPin's sound system.

don't wanna hijack this thread, but is there anywhere a (reliable) list to what the different pin soundsystems should be configured to use?
(i know wpc is 32000, but that's about it, everything else is fuzzy (f.e. whitestar is said to be 22050 somewhere and 41000 somewhere else and i even found 48000))

Ball mass sounds good! If that happens, should make VP even more realistic.

Thirded to have ball mass as a factor, this could be a great variable to tweak.

Yes, I have Circus Voltaire and Cueball Wizard ready with the ball mass changed on the big balls and the table plays much better when the big ball don't fell like ping pong balls

I love VP as it is but an update that doesn't brake the already existing tables would be great
I would love to see 2 features implemented, maybe someone can tell me if that is a minor update that might be implemented one day or a major one that will probably never happen.
1. easy separate handling of rom vs embedded VP sounds.
2. easy use of multiple identical roms (i.e. use the same rom with a unique name that is accepted by VP with its own .nv file)
First request would be my pick if I needed to choose. I know there is a solution for the 2nd request, but I think an easier solution would be nice.

I think those would both be pinmame associated features not vp.
I could be wrong
