Close Encounters (Desktop WS Pinuck Mod)

Version: 1.0.2
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): pinuck

Description:
Widescreen version of my FS mod of Serpiko's Close Encounters.
I've put in all new graphics, new roto-target, some new sounds, some physics tweaks, new code, analog plunger support etc.

There's two sets of chimes, electronic and a chime box. You can easily switch between the two at the top of the script. I prefer the electronic on this, so that's the default.

And here's the ROM Link

THANKS TO:
Serpiko - for original build, help/advice, and letting me mod his table
Destruk - answering all my coding questions
unclewilly - roto-target advice
Kruge99 - analog plunger help
Jimmy Fingers/Rosve - Jimmy Fingers' Flipper Strength routine (Rosve's compacted code version)

v.1.0.0 Release
v.1.0.1 Added missing Roto-Target Hit sound
v.1.0.2 Fixed problematic control point on ramp, analog plunger issues (merci bundyboss)

Thanks, Pinuck! This plays very much like the actual arcade table from back in the day. Very nice! The CE Background adds to the feeling of the game! dblthumb.gif

And thanks for being WS, too. I can enjoy this table anywhere I can be with my laptop.

Solved ! yahoo.gif

I recently started to have problems with Google Chrome, Shockwave Flash & Flash Payer.

Getting rid of Chrome & uninstallig -reinstalling Shockwave & Flash Player solved the problem.

Thanks all for the positive feedback + bug reporting.

Note: version 1.0.1 went up shortly after 1.0, so some early downloaders may be missing the roto-target hit sounds (you can tell in the script or table info the version #).

To repsond to the various questions:

@FDSystems:
glad you got your system problems sorted out.

@Sabbat/Ezepov:
Yeah a WS of C37 is partially done, but it's a ton of work that I have very little interest in doing, so it's continuing to go slow.

ACD - i'd started a WS with a mini B2S but it looks rather shoddy, and i'm not sure if the mini-B2S on the same screen really caught on.

Joker Poker - well there's serpiko's version, and if you want to try mine, just type in his backglass/view settings into the FS. No plans on making another version of this one. The only real reason I did CE3K WS was because of the roto-target.

glad people are enjoying it,
pinuck

Love the roto target effect, nice work.

it's a rom error ?

I'm not sure which rollovers are supposed to light which inserts. But i haven't changed any code for them, or changed the lights (other than scaling them and/or moving them, and re-importing the images)

i did notice that the standup targets, the one that lights the spinner and the two up top sometimes do not register. You can see the target being pushed back but nothing, usually takes 2 hits for a register.

no, no it's not an error code.
i played recently in a real close encounters and when i make A , B, C lane i lit the 5000 drop target.
it's no doubt an rom error.

In this video, when the game starts (at 1:10) the 5k drop targets are lit up from the beginning

But this one they come on with the rollovers - maybe it's different rules for 3-ball / 5-ball game?
