Do any mp3 files work for any table for you?
Unzip this (attached) and put the mp3 into your music folder, then run the table and it should play the mp3. If not, reinstall vp 912 full.

I had to convert my MP3's to get them to work correctly. I guess VP is particular about how MP3's are encoded?

Possible - most of my mp3's except 1 are encoded as 128/44100.

Just tried a game, but didn't hear any table sounds. Are my MP3s too loud or is there a setting I missed?

Open sound manager, select anything, and then click play. If you hear sound there then your mp3's are too loud, or the sounds in sound manager are too quiet.
VP also has a volume control for preferences/audio options but I don't know if those settings actually make a difference.
btw - the sound effects are kept to a minimum to not be overpowering for the music - so you get sounds for pop bumpers, slingshots, drop targets, etc etc. All sound effects and speech clips are in sound manager.

I don't get anything. Even with your test one. But don't forget, i'm using Virtrapin front end. Might make a difference.

I could only get that beatles one to only play 1/3 of a song then it would cut out and not play anymore too.

I have 18 songs loaded for this one, and none of them work.

We'll probably need Noah's help to figure out why they don't work with the frontend. Is it possible to load VP without the frontend?

yes. Virtuapin is my front end and Vpinball is just my trouble shooting and customizing area, without backglasses (unless B2S or UVP).

If the mp3's play without the frontend, then that's a help to troubleshoot.

ok solved. My "Music" folder was in the wrong spot and named wrong.

Suppose to be (for me) in.

C:/program files/visual pinball

I had it in the visual pinball hyperpin section, where I put tables and wheel images. Seems to work now. one of my songs isn't working right now, have to figure out why.

Also, I noticed there isn't an Autokicker for multiball. Ball just siting in the shooterlane during multiball.

Is there sounds for the mystery hole? And if I make a sound clip for it, can I customize it?

There is an autoplunger in the shooter lane. Perhaps your mechanical plunger is calibrated a little differently.
Select the "autoplunger" from the index list and change the Y value so it is slightly higher on the table (lower Y number)

The ball hitting the hole doesn't play a sound but when it runs through the awards it plays a sound as the award cycles.
To add a sound when the hole is hit by the ball, go to Sub Kicker5_Hit and add a line for PlaySound"soundname" where soundname matches what you import into sound manager.
To change the selection sound, as listed in modding.txt -
ZChange2=quieter=different displays for random awards, different displays for city selection for world tour multiball

Reimport your sound over ZChange2

bunch of my songs arn't working tho. Do the song names also restrict to the 14 character limit? and the band name before the - doesn't count or does it?

The filename has nothing to do with it, unless you're using an ms-dos 8+3 file system on windows 95? What does mediainfo say about your mp3s that don't work?
I encded all my mp3s from CDs I own, so mine are all this format except one, that I was comparing with a higher bitrate.

The only thing I might suggest that may cause .mp3s not to play is if they are converted with VBR ( variable bit rate ). I don't know for sure, though I suspect Visual Pinball may have issues with such .mp3 files.

Files I have uploaded here...

also, how can I tell which ones arn't working? Is there a breakdown to what inserts are which song? So I can make a list on which ones arn't working.

Ok did some tests. These are the inserts not working for me O are working X are not

x O X
O O O
O O X

and two of my multiballs are working. don't know yet about more than that, because havn't reached that yet. and the MP3's baffle me because some are taken from the same CD from the same ripping session.

With the plunger. I enabled mechanical plunger. I moved it down so the autoplunger can hit, but now it's all distorted in graphics. If i uncheck the visable. then I get nothing. I made the stroke length 130 to give me play in plunging. Seems the most realistic, I do it with all my tables. But i've gotten that distortion visually before. How do I correct it?

And is there any way I can move the displays so I can put them in my 3rd display spot?
