For those that dont frequent the HP forums, it only seems right to do my build thread here also.
I recently sold my Electropin cabinet as I could not think any reason to run more wires in her so she had to go....

I will miss her. biggrin.gif
But that was yesterday and it's time for a fresh start.

So beginneth High Voltage Pin

Numiah! Mate! I am sorry the last thing I would ever want to do is upset you so I am not going to build this cabinet now out of respect. whtflag.gif biggrin.gif

Ok maybe I am lying a little......

Got a couple of packages in the mail -

A couple of Vishays which seem to be rarer than chicken teeth

Got another little parcel for some of the driver boards I will be using

Started work on my Cree's

And soldered up my resistor boards. Decided this time around I am going for a dedicated 3.3 volt rated power supply for my Cree LED's rather than running them of 12 volts like I did on my last cabinet. The LED calculator site works out that with a power supply running at 3.7 volts (adjusment dial on the power supply to bump it up) I can run my Crees at 600 mA using a 1.2 Ohm resistor for the Green and Blue and a 2.2 Ohm for Red. The info for each LED on the MC-E chip is here - Cree MC-E datasheet - @ 700mA - Red 2.3 V, Green 3.7 and Blue 3.5 (Wont be using the white on these ones)

Elton! Well now you can see why I am not in chat much at the moment... Been a busy boy. biggrin.gif

Funny thing is, all the 46 inch TV's are on run out here. They have told me there will basically only be 40 then 55! Now that would be a pinball to see... 55 inch LED playfield.
You would almost need to take a step to reach each flipper button. biggrin.gif

Just finished sorting out all the details with Troy working out the finer details with the custom cabinet design.

As I tend to do... Started with the wiring. biggrin.gif

what do gear and wiper motors do?

The shaker worries me a little. I'd like to put one in mine, but having the whole machine shake with a CPU, with Graphics cards it in, makes me nervous. Shaker motors can do some damage. I had a JP once, where the shaker ate a hole in the bottom of the cabinet from a loose T nut. Always find screws and nuts in the bottom of my games with shakers in them. Looks to be an awesome build tho.

The gear motor, shaker, contactors, LEDs, etc is for feedback from the roms to make it more like the real thing.... or monkies with unicycles depending on who you talk to biggrin.gif

The gear motor or wiper motor is used for when rudy's jaw is moving in Funhouse or Roadshow.
Really adds to the game IMO.

The shaker I am using will have a heavy cover over it, but I am not too concerned about it coming apart. Its a well designed vibration motor.

the motor wasn't the part that you have to worry about. Shaking your whole cabinet and computer apart is the thing you need to worry about. smile.gif I see the havoc it does on my JP, and earthshaker. Might want to mount your CPU board with rubber grommits. Might help a lot with vibration.

Cheers for the heads up CaptainNeo, misread your post.
As the motor is powered by PWM, it can be configured to give as little or as much shake as desired...
so I am aiming for about 2 RPM before the screws start falling out of the cabinet. biggrin.gif

yea, you want it to shake the hell out of the game, or there really isn't any point on having it. Just need to make sure that CPU and monitors, don't take the blunt of the vibration.

I wonder how that works with games like Earthshaker, because it virtually shakes, then you put real shaking on top of that, I wonder if the balls would act as tho magnets are all over the entire playfield?

What are you using all of the contactors for? I only have 7 and am wondering what people are using more than 7 for.

Yeah - vibration is the enemy of any mechanical/electrical system, especially fasteners...

A lot of contactors wont keep up with whats happening on the screen Syco so I decided to add more for better response.
