[Ethermaster]

I just wondered what kind of systems everyone runs here ? and how they run VP and FP.

Mines as follows,

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Asus Rampage III Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3
Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) (Overclocked & Watercooled)
Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Triple Channel
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 1000W Power Supply
PCI-E 16x Raid 0 Controller
Gainward (Gold Sample) GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 3696 MHz X 2, Dual SLI (thinking about watercooling)
OCZ SSD Vertex 2E Bigfoot 120GB SATA 2 x2 in Raid 0
Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB SATA 2 in Raid 0
Samsung P2450H 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Runs VP fine though FP is nearly unplayable due to issues im having very low frame rates on my GTX480's for some unknown reason !! its the second fastest GPU known to man !! (was the first until the GTX580 came out)

Does anyone know why FP doesn't support GTX... cards ?

well, my computer sucks, to put it bluntly. BUT, my girlfriend (who just came into a windfall of moolah!) talked with me. after pricing 1 meg ddr ram card upgrades and graphics cards she has decided to buy me a new tower! so we are looking into Nvidia card pc's with at least 2 megs ddr, my current computer only has 1 as you can plainly see. So, hopefully soon i can 'retire' this one and be able to not only have better running vp pins, maybe just maybe I will be able to run (and build in) FP! just a pipe dream right now but soon, hopefully...!

Runs VP fine with textures below 1024 @1600x1200, FP don't know used to run one of the earlier versions @1280x1024 max settings v sync on and 2xAA.

You can get CPU-Z here: CPU-Z download.

Install CPU-Z. Run the program and at the bottom there is a button "validate". On the next screen at the top hit "submit", make sure "publish online" is checked. Your browser will come up with your data, and at the bottom copy the link and add paste it in your signature.

Faralos, not that I know that much but my first laptop (IBM A31 bought in june of 08) runs FP with less specs than yours. Doesn't run 3 angels well (not many can do that anyway) but runs basic games fairly decently. P4, 1024mb ram, 16mb of video memory (ati radeon 7500 graphics). It even runs VP9! I don't know why yours won't run it at all.

Run 95% of FS tables with no problem, 50% using UVP.

As for pc specs...meh - 10 years ago I used to know everything about every part that went into my pc...especially as I built them myself...now they're so cheap I just don't care, the only thing that really seems to matter for VP is the graphics card - get that right & everything seems to flow fine....I bought this tower about 18 months ago for less than £200 & it knocks spots off the pc I built myself costing over £800 5 years ago.

My newly rebuilt rig is a Dell Optiplex 270GX. Running Win XP SP3 with Intel Extreme2 graphics, Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! Pro sound card, 2.8 gig Pentium 4 processor, a gig and a quarter memory, 3 (yes, 3) HDs, a 80gb Sata, a 80gb and a 320gb IDE drive with a DVD/RW and a CD/DVD RW combo optical drive. I plan to get a 2TB Sata drive and run Windows 7. I also plan to get a decent nVidia card that's easy on the wallet and can run the Aero graphics package and run Street Fighter 4.

Running VP8 on the 320 drive. I also installed the Williams Pinball Collection on the same drive, it's okay but not the same as VP IMHO. I'm running MAME too. And all of my emus; like bgb, ZSNES, FCEUX for Nintendo, Gens!+, Magic Engine, Stella and Project Tempest for Atari Jaguar. All on one drive.

Sound: Realtek on-board. Works well enough for me...

CHANGED SETTINGS FOR THE GTS 450, for Future Pinball only:
Anisotropic Filtering: 8x
Antialiasing - Mode: Enhance the Application Setting
Antialiasing - Transparency: 2x (supersample)
Testure filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization: On
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow
Triple buffering - On

In physics wireframe mode I get 110fps+ on my EMs.
In normal mode I get 150fps+ on my EMs.

I have not yet found a table that will stagger this setup.
