Ive got a strange problem with DOFLinx and Pinballx. Every seems to work fine, my solenoids work and my leds work when playing VP or FX3 from within Pinballx. When i exit a game and use the flipper buttons to scroll left or right through the installed games the flipper solenoids active. They should only activate when actually playing a game, not when you are in "Pinballx select a game mode". My system didn't used to do this. Any ideas what might be causing this new problem?

PinballX does have a plugin that does exactly what you are describing.  You can control the DOF usage while at the PinballX menu.  You can remove the plugin (normally in c:\Pinballx\plugins\) or you can modify your local setup for the PinballX table in the DOF config tool simply removing the flipper solenoids and thus keeping all other effects.

If i remove the plugin my solenoids continue to work as they should and the flipper solenoids don't engage when in the Pinballx menu, but they do engage when playing a game.... But my Undercab LEDs dont work unless i use the plugin. With the plugin the flipper solenoids engage when in the Pinballx menu. I would like the LEDs to work and the flipper solenoids not engaging in the Pinballx menu.

In that case, leve the plugin and just remove the flipper action from the PinballX ROM in your personal config.  This what I have setup.  I don't like flipper "bangs" when at the menu.

  1. Go over to VP U and logon to the DOF Config tool with your username / password
  2. Third option from the left, Table Configs
  3. Select PinballX from the drop down box
  4. On the "candidate configuration" (right hand side), delete the contents of "Flipper Left" and "Flipper Right"
  5. Save your configuration (Do not Submit for Public Consideration)
  6. "Generate Config", download and install the files in your DOF config folder

Done !

I had no idea there was a Pinballx configuration in there, fabulous, and yes it worked thanks very much.

Ive also managed to get my Undercab lighting to work with FX3 only when I run FX3 standalone (no front end) They won't work when launching from Pinballx. Any ideas? They work good intill pinballx is in the equation... Im assuming the fix is within Pinballx?

Great news.

Yes, on the surface it sounds like an unintended interaction, ie PinballX not relinquishing control.  I'm not sure what the issue is, but a couple of things to think about / try;

- If you disable the DOF connection in PinballX does it then work (ie remove the plugin temporarily)

- Is DOFLinx running all the time, ie starts at startup?

- If you run DOFLinx with DEBUG=2, do you get any errors in the log? (I doubt you will but worth a look)

- Run logging for DOF and see if you have any errors in that log
