I recently restored my pinball cabinet system from scratch.  I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 10.  I've got almost everything working: Visual Pinball, DOF, and PinballY.
 
I had UltraDMD working on my last installation. But...I'm meeting my match trying to get UltraDMD reinstalled.
 
I tried using the UltraDMD.msi installer and Tom Spiers' UltraDMD Installer 2.05.
 
I've got UltraDMD in C:\UltraDMD
 
All .dll fiiles in the folder are unblocked.
 
No matter what I do, when I try to run a table like Diablo or Masters of the Universe, I see:

ActiveX component can't create object: 'UltraDMD.DMDObject'

I tried "allowing" UltraDMD.exe in the WIndows firewall.  It made no difference.
 
As always, any advice is appreciated.

maybe download active x. or reinstall it not sure if that helps or not. i had a problem and reinstalled ultra dmd. and fixed my problem

I've reinstalled UltraDMD multiple times (uninstalling in between attempts). Nothing has worked.

I didn't know ActiveX could be reinstalled.

What happens if you double click the --- UltraDMD.exe

 

Does a window pop-up and you can right click that to get a menu?

It works. I can reposition the UltraDMD DMD window. It opens in the same place on my DMD monitor when UltraDMD.exe is run. I can right click and set options.

But, I can't run tables.

Juste some thoughts Phaser did you set UltraDmd.exe to run as admin? If not try it.

In my (Windows 10) cabinet, UltraDMD is installed in C:\Visual Pinball\XDMD

 

And, in the tables folder, I have a "The Web.UltraDMD" folder to support the ProPinball The Web VPX table. I believe that table has instructions included on how to get UltraDMD installed.

I was having issues with my Ultradmd but not getting that message it was just not displaying anything when I ran an ultradmd table. I then went to the registry.....HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\UltraDMD...then deleted all the settings then Ultradmd started working like normal.  Maybe that will work in your case??

I'll try that. It seems like Visual Pinball doesn't know where to look for UltraDMD.

I only have one program running as admin (DOFLinx) and that will change in the future With the new release…

Yes! That fixed it. Thanks.

I disabled "run as administrator" for UltraDMD.exe and now the tables run fine.

Since vpinball.exe was not in admin mode, could it have been blocked from starting an admin-level program like UltraDMD.exe and thus caused the error?

Thanks so much. That solved my problem too. In other threads and some tutorials they do mention to change the ultradmd to administrator. Taking this away finally worked for me too. I guess it is always good to install it the way it was meant to be

Right click the EXE . Then click properties
Then click on Compatibility

I ended up going into VpinMame and opening FlexDMDUI.exe and registering both FlexDMD and UltraDMD. That fixed my problems.
