Try this procedure:

1. Click on the PinMAME score window with the mouse
2. Press the tilde key (~). You should see a white box inside the PinMAME window
3. Using the up and down arrow keys, scroll through the options in the white box until you see YM2151 #0 Ch.1 in the box
4. Using the left and right arrow keys, adjust the channel volume. The left arrow key lowers the channel volume, the right arrow key raises the channel volume.
5. Using the up and down arrow keys, scroll through the options in the white box until you see YM2151 #0 Ch.2 in the white box.
6. Repeat step 4 to adjust the channel volume
7. Using the up and down arrow keys, scroll through the options in the white box until you see MSM5205 #0 in the white box.
8. Repeat step 4 to adjust the volume (this will control the speech volume)
9. Press the tilde key (~) to close the white box
10. Click anywhere on the table to return focus to the table

This procedure should work on the following tables:

Second Generation Data East Alpha Tables:

Torpedo Alley, Time Machine*, Playboy 35th Anniversary, Monday Night Football, Robocop*, Phantom of the Opera

*- For JPSalas’ versions of these tables, the PinMAME window is hidden. To make the volume adjustments as described above, you have to go into the script and find the following line:

.Hidden = 1

Change that line to read as follows:

.Hidden = 0

Then exit the script and press play. Make your adjustments as described above. When you exit the table and close it in VP, you do not have to resave the table if you do not want to keep the PinMAME window unhidden.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I'll try that again, with the hidden, although I don't believe it will do anything, as if I recall correctly the sound is already at 100% and it's low.
