some of you are fustrated with vp9 and FP.
tables must be extracted to use the vp8.1, 9xx, FP desktop exec and play proper.
vp9 and FP will get errors and missing functions if all files are not extracted.
some vp9 tables might play zipped.
zipped vp8 table folders and some older vp9 will play zipped but will not be able to use the editor, may have missing functions and not play proper.
all vp8, vp9 and FP must be extracted to use the desktop execs to play proper and use the editor.

to extract right click on the zipped table folder.
extract all.
use the windows extraction wizard on the PC to extract/unpack back into the same folder.

to install vp8.1, any 9xx desktop exec and FP right click on the vp8.1, 9xx, FP zipped folder.
right click extract all.
you will see a new submenu with the destination box.
created my own destination.
works fine.
use the browse.
click computer, C drive, program files then pinball.
for vp8, 9xx in the final destination box you should see C/drive/program files/pinball.
with FP use the default games or it will create a new folder.
click on next to install the vp8, 9xx to the pb subfolders where the vip3click folders for the scripts, tables, roms are.
after installing a window showing where the files were installed.
right click on the silver ball exec.
send to desktop.
this is the shortcut.
close all windows back to desktop.
left click and drag the exec where you want.
right click on the exec.
open.
click on file.
click on open.
if you dont get the extracted table folders in the window look next to the adress box for a yellow box with an arrow.
click on it to go back.
look for computer or program files.
click on it.
click on computer, C drive, program files, pinball then tables.
this should get the extracted table folders in the window for the vp8, and 9xx desktop exec.
click on an extracted game folder to open.
when the game opens uncheck the HD render box then close.
alot of new vp9 tables will require HDrender checked.
click yes to save table settings.
the window will close back to desktop.
restart the desktop exec.
click on file then open.
select a table, open and click play.

note*****
this is for the vip(visual install pack)3 click.
it should still work for any VP installer.
use the browse.

hope this helps.....

It's over complicated chas. I'm sure it works, but is not going to help a bit in the opposing views of whether a full install kit is absolutely needed or not, other that to convince most on the fence that it absolutely is.

I can install everything to get VP and FP working in my sleep, and it's really not complicated at all. Just run a package with the installer, and add VP9 to it.
For VPM just download it there and run it.

The kicker though is that as much as you said, if you are going to say it in that fashion, it is not enough. You failed to mention the instructions for installing the .vbs files, and then there are the now standard fonts.

Dear chas,

I'm sure it was helpful for one or the other. Thanks for your well-intentioned post. I think that's the right spirit. Keep up that!

Now (as you still seem to be serious) please let me try to clarify/explain:

I still didn't see a lot of frustation in the forum.

I have to say that if I had problems installing VP, your post would have confused me very much. I don't speak English as first/native language. Your use of English language (only clauses, then the ....., the use of single characters and numbers instead of whole words, the appearance of your post and what else) doesn't let me translate and understand much and wouldn't make me willing to try at all. I can't/don't speak for others here, but that's my opinion. Sorry. Please don't worry! I know/understand that you post was well-meant and I appreciate that very much and I want to let you know that, even if we had and made some fun in this thread.
