Killing martians is more fun than ever. Great backglass and animated fire is a nice feature!

Hope this table will not be noticed by the 'keep pinball authentic' inquisition though ;)

Thanks Todd, it looks like JP releases his tables with the "enable mechanical plunger" box unchecked and the other 2 boxes checked. I am still not sure why. :)

The newer method utilizes an analog controlled impulse plunger to launch the ball and doesn't rely on 'hitting' the ball with the plunger (which requires enabling the mechanical plunger). In my experience, this allows for greater consistency and will act exactly the same as using the plunger button to launch from the same amount of pull back.

Hi Bob, if you check out my updated High Speed, you can see the plunger mod that I used from Koadic in a VP table as well as in his demo table.

If I understand the code and Koadic's explanation and his notes in the demo table, the IMPlunger power is determined by how much the plunger is pulled back.

Koadic, please correct me if I'm wrong!

Best Regards,
Todd.

It is almost fully impulse plunger based, so all that is basically used from the plunger object is the timer and position sensing (so it can be placed anywhere on the table). My demo table also has a few extra features like being able to set the power and pull back speed directly in the editor by modifying the plunger object values (Mech Strength and Pull Speed, in addition to one other setting for finetuning). And as far as I know, JP intends to start including this version in his future tables.

If you are only using the plunger key, it operates like a standard impulse plunger found on many tables, but if you are using an analog plunger, it will take the position reading and use that to apply a percentage of the maximum power to the impulse plunger, so this doesn't require enabling the 'mechanical plunger' checkbox. It also features a customizable release time buffer to ensure the correct release position is used for calculating power. This is because an actual plunger release is quite a bit slower than the updating of the position, so we need to keep a record of a set number of updates so we can go back and grab the intended release position (this can be adjusted in the Release Speed setting of the plunger object).

I just downloaded Koadic's Plunger demo and it is very nice. Hard for me to check analog plunger stuff without having one and I also normally like to stay away from the core.vbs file on Originals if I can help it, but I will keep this in mind when I redo plungers or if I make a new table.

Call me old fashion, but I do like the plunger hitting the ball and once in awhile it actually misfires like in real life.

I also already updated this table a few days ago (version number was the date of upload) with a new db2s, so it is good to go for a year or two, I hope. :)
