Check these screens out... they have implemented a HLSL system to the vector games... pretty much what was done on AAE Vector Emulator.

This has plenty of settings and it's looking incredible compared to the old... finally Star Wars looking almost as good as the real thing.

Don't miss this one... get the newest MAMEUIFX and start updating your ROMs at retroroms.com...!!

Holy crap, there is a god! :)  I suppose it will take quite a video card to get this going? (mame cab has a crap card and because of low profile really can't have one)

I have a pretty good card (Geoforce 640-something) and it runs like a champ. Actually when I release the throttle lock I get 500% speed on Star Wars. It's not as heavy as AAE for sure.

The vector games look fantastic and there's plenty of settings.

HLSL is pretty cool... you can also use it on the raster games... to imitate a vintage display.

Yeah me too... AAE was amazing. The only thing MAME is missing from AAE now are those huge shots on Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe. They were pretty cool... a bit "overdone" though. Here's the genuine Deluxe... MAME with HLSL looks pretty damn close.

(the guy showing the machine sounds like a fruitcake tho'... turn the volume off if your head is exploding)

But I guess those shots can be improved. If I'm not mistaken the same guy who wrote AAE was developing this new vector glow code on MAME.

PS: MAME vector games run a tad too fast. I think the correct speed is about 0.97. You can adjust that on the vector.ini file directly.

Heading overe to the site now to give it a go...

Yeah... .I was happy standing pat with my ancient 1.35 set... but when I heard about the vector glow HLSL feature I had to upgrade.

PS: With the exception of holidays there hasn't been a week in the last 15 years that I haven't played MAME.

OMG, I stopped updating my MAME roms years ago.  Stopped when it got down to 500 versions of mahjong!  Guess I will have to update the old prototype MAME cab!

Yeah... Mahjong, card /quiz games and all that Chinese shit is banned forever on my MAME. :D

Grab only the ROMs you play from RetroRoms... nobody needs the "full set".

Yeah, after the first five I couldn't tell the difference any more. I tried hard to get into them but just couldn't make sense of them.  They must have been money makers somewhere though.  I'm OCD though so I had to have every one of them on my MAME cab! LOL.

Yeah... that's the newest build.

@RipleYYY: What do you mean with "vintage feeling"? When the vector and raster games look more genuine with HLSL how does that detract from it?

More low res screenshots... FRAPS doesn't use the highest res but you get the idea. The "glow" is incredible compared to the old and dull misrepresentation.

Installed this last night - amazing, cheers again Kristian!!!

For those who are worried I'm not sure if it's really that power hungry. Worked fine on my modest cab setup with a GTX 260.

For those using MAMEUIFX 0.149.2 and think the sound effects in Asteroids Deluxe sound weird, set the sliders in the 'slider controls' menu as follows:

DISCRETE volume = 2.00

POKEY volume = 0.5

that should balance things out a bit. Also be sure to grab the overlays from here and drop them in your artwork folder, they make all the difference!!:

MAME ON!!!! :drinks:
