Replay Adjustment - Atari Generation 2

Procedure to adjust replay levels on Atari Generation 2 tables

Posted by ta2686 on Apr 17 2013 08:06 PM
Here is the procedure to set the replay levels on Atari Generation 2 MPUs. These differ from their Generation 1 counterparts as the Generation 1 tables used dip switches to set the replay levels, while Generation 2 used coin door switches and start button to set the levels.

1. Press 7 to enter test mode.

2. Continue to press 7 until you see 16 in the ball in play/match display.

3. Press and hold the 1 key to set the first replay level. The score will increment by 5,000 points while you are holding in the 1 key. When you reach the level you want to set it to, release the 1 key.

(NOTE: To disable a replay level, set the level to zero. According to the manual you need to activate the right coin switch (5 key I believe) to zero out the value, but testing this on the VPM tables shows that this is currently not functioning. The easiest thing to do then is to exit the table, delete the nvram, and then go back into the table)

4. Press 7 to see 17 in the ball in play/match display.

5. Repeat step 3 to set the second replay level.

6. Press 7 to see 18 in the ball in play/match display.

7. Repeat step 3 to set the third replay level.

8. Press 7 to see 19 in the ball in play/match display.

9. Repeat step 3 to set the high game to date.

10. Either press 7 or F3 to save changes and reset the table.

This procedure should work for the following tables:

Atari Generation 2 tables:
Superman, Hercules

I have not found any information regarding the only Generation 3 table Atari made (Road Runner), so if anyone has that information, please PM me so that it can be included here.
