Replay Adjustment - Williams System 3 and 4

Procedure to adjust replay levels on Williams System 3 and 4 tables

Posted by ta2686 on Apr 17 2013 09:43 PM
Here is the procedure to reset the replay levels on Williams System 3 and System 4 tables (tables produced prior to Flash).  Please note that there will be accompanying documents which will have dip switch settings that this post will refer to.  These are scanned from the Williams manual for a System 4 machine (Phoenix) but the other machines will follow the same procedure.

1. Press 9 on the keyboard.  The displays should go blank.

2. Press F6 to bring up the dip switch menu.  You should see a series of dip switches.  We will concern ourselves with the function and data switches for the purpose of this post.

3. To select the first replay score, set the top dip switch of the function section to on (checked) to change the first replay score. Please refer to chart 1 picture below for dip switch info.

4. To change the score, set the data switches, which are the bottom 8 switches in the menu, to checked (on) for the score you wish to set it for.  Please refer to chart 2 picture for dip switch info.

5. Click OK to exit dip switch menu.

6. Press the 0(zero) key to make the change.  (NOTE: This key is currently undocumented in the F2 menu, but it is enabled and does work in Pinmame 1.56 according to my tests)

7. To select the second replay score, press F6 to bring up the dip switch menu, then following what is shown in the chart 1 picture, select option 2 for the second replay score (which is deselect the top switch and select the switch below that one)

8. Repeat steps 4 through 6 to reset the second replay level.

9. To select the third replay level, press F6 to bring up the dip switch menu, then select the top two switches of the function section.

10. Repeat steps 4 through 6 to reset the third replay level.

11. To select the fourth replay level, if desired, press F6 to bring up the dip switch menu, then clear the first two function check boxes and check the third function check box.

12.  Repeat steps 4 through 6 to set the fourth replay level.

(NOTE: To disable a replay level by setting it to zero, check all data dip switch boxes, click OK to exit that menu and press 0)

13. To reset the high game to date, follow this procedure:

       a. Press F6 to bring up the dip switch menu

       b. To select the first two digits of the high game score, using the dip switch settings from chart 1, select the dip switches that correspond to 21 in the function dip switch section.

       c. Using the dip switch settings from chart 2, select the dip switches that correspond to the first two digits of the score you want to set it to in the data dip switch section..

       d. Click OK to close the dip switch menu.

       e. Press 0 to make the change.

       f.  Press F6 to enter the dip switch menu.

       g. To select the third and fourth digits of the high game score, using the dip switch settings from chart 1, select the dip switches that correspond to 22 in the function dip switch section.

       h. Using the dip switch settings from chart 2, select the dip switches that correspond to the third and fourth digits of the score you want to set it to in the data dip switch section.

       i. Click OK to close the dip switch menu.

       j. Press 0 to make the change.

       k. To select the last two digits of the high game score. Using the dip switch settings from chart 1, select the dip switches that correspond to 23 in the function dip switch section.

       l. Using the dip switch settings from chart 2, select the dip switches that correspond to the last two digits of the score you want to set it to in the data dip switch section.

       m. Click OK to close the dip switch menu

       n. Press 0 to make the change

(NOTE: These tables were the only ones that Williams made where you could adjust the last 4 digits of the high score to date)

14. Press F3 to exit the adjustment menu and reset the table.

To verify the changes you made, when in attract mode press the 8 key to show the current setting for the high game to date.  Continue to press the 8 key until you see 01 in the credit display.  You should then see the first replay level in the first player display.  Press 8 three more times to see each successive replay level you set after each press.

This procedure should work on the following tables:

Williams System 3 tables:
Hot Tip, Lucky Seven, Contact, World Cup, Disco Fever^

Williams System 4 tables:
Pokerino*, Phoenix

* - Eala Dubh Sidhe’s version of Pokerino does not follow this procedure, instead he has a menu at the bottom of the screen showing which keys to press to make those adjustments.

^ - The version of this table done by Germax (Gerhard & Friends) uses the incorrect vbs script.  It uses the s6.vbs script instead of the s4.vbs script.  The version of this table done by TAB does use the correct script.  To correct the Germax table script, edit the script to change the value of the index to say i=1, which will select the s4 script.  Currently the value is set to 2, which is for the s6 script.
