Gorgar - Williams 1979
v1.0 by drumndav AKA daveboy6
Back in the late 70's as soon as I got out of school, I would
head over the Main St. bridge towards the beach to check out
the surf. If the waves looked small but the tide was going to
change in a little while, I would hang out on the boardwalk, and
play 'Lost World'. So it was until in 1979 something happend,
a pinball machine talked! The first time I encountered Gorgar,
I diddnt see it first, I heard it! When I finaly did see it, I knew
I had to play it. I remember there was a small group of people with
quarters on the machine already waiting. Every time Gorgar said
something everybody remarked about it because nobody had heard
anything like it before, it was the first of it's kind.
This is my second table, built using what I had learned creating
Lost World v2.0, looking at how others had done this table before,
and learning even more during my recreation of Williams 1979 Gorgar.
I tried to make Gorgar v1.0 as realistic as possible, but also
wanted it to run as fast as possible, hence I used old style lights.
Yeah I know the old lights dont look as good, but they run fast,
and thats what counts to me. This table runs smooth even on an old
Dell Pentium 4 1.8GHz, with a nVidia Geforce FX 5900, and a Sound
Blaster Audigy 2 card. So even you basic laptop users out there
should have no lag/slide show effects while playing it. Above all
else remember to just have fun, because thats what it's all about.
Oh, and speaking of fun, the 'Naked Chick' is back in this table!

What's New in Version v1.0 (See full changelog)
- None, this is the first version of this table released by me.
Gorgar skipped english class at demon high.
What's not to like - scantily clad babe pushing her mate into the fiery pit as sacrifice to GORGAR! Oh wait, he's protecting her? Hmmm.
Fun table and I'm SO glad you made it!
I'm glad your digging my first version of Gorgar ccipher, and thanks for rating and commenting on it. I hope everybody else is enjoying it as well.
Superb version of one of my all time favourite pins. Very professionally done! Absolutely LOVE the "intro"-sound FX. After raising the table slope a bit, it plays fast & furious with a great feeling of ball control. This table is an absolute blast to play and a beauty to behold. I gave it five stars and hope you'll keep on making spectacular tables like this one. Well done, sir!
Thanks for the desktop version!!!
Brilliant, I can play one of my all time favourite pinball machines, and it looks and works great. I had tried Fuzzel's VPX version, but even after messing around with suggested settings the flippers still lagged too much to be playable, so I'm really pleased to find this VP9.X version.
Like the author I have some fond memories of playing this, I discovered it in the back of a fairly well remembered amusement arcade in Dawlish Warren, "The Copper Mine".It was early 80s, and I used to live in Dawlish, so often used to visit the Warren, and this was a small, but great arcade with mainly older videogames and fruit machines compared to most, such as Night Driver, Space War, Nudges Unlimited, and of course a few pinball machines.I used to mainly play videogames, that was until one day I heard the voice of Gorgar speak.I wandered over to where it was coming from and wondered why I'd never noticed or heard it before. They had about 5 or 6 pinball machines, but the only other ones I can remember were a Captain Fantastic and Middle Earth.Gorgar remained my favourite game, until I discovered an arcade in Teignmouth also had a talking pinball, only this one was female and sexy sounding, yes my favourite, Xenon.
Realistically, I doubt I'll ever find a favourite pinball in an arcade, just like classic videogames those days have gone, but thanks to the skill and dedication of you guys recreating these tables virtually, at least I can enjoy playing them again. All I've got to do now is build myself a VP cab!
BTW Anyone else in the UK remember The original Copper Mine arcade? it was just past the kiosk selling banana fritters! or maybe you remember the old wooden shack arcade and Saturday Night Fever dodgems at the Warren?

The image above shows the arcade where I found Gorgar. This is how it looked originally, but in it's later years (like most, all penny pushers, redemption and fruit machines), but there was a fire in about 2008, so it got rebuilt, and then eventually it closed as an arcade, and is now just a gift shop. Sad.
