original sci-fi mining space
You’re our last hope to restore humanity. You’ve been sent to an alien planet far from Earth that’s rich in magical resources powerful enough to revitalize our dying farms, dwindling fuel, diminishing health, and withering economy. Extract rare crystals with miraculous properties from deep in the extraterrestrial mines and ship them back home. You may never see a sunny day again, but with enough hard work in the mines, everyone back home just might.
FREE TO PLAY. Just launch the ball.
This one took me awhile to finish! A 100% original table by me. I designed the layout, wrote the rules, scripted the code, modeled the primitives, and composed and performed the music. The art was mostly created with Co-Pilot, then collaged together by me. I tried to keep the grittier sci-fi elements of my Raygun Runner table that people liked but add a little bit more of the whimsy and magic that I like.
[TO PLAY THE RAR FILES, DOWNLOAD ALL TO ONE FOLDER AND EXTRACT PART1 WITH WINRAR, THAT SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY COMBINE THE REST]
OBJECTIVE:
Complete six major work tasks to deplete the mine, then drill at a new location to find new resources. Meanwhile, select which of the six supernatural minerals to mine and try to fill orders.
-----WORK: (6 Work quests. Only one can be played at a time. Once one is complete, it is unavailable until you complete all six)
EXCAVATE:
Shoot the left or right orbit five times to start Excavate Work. This will light the captive ball on the upper playfield. Access it via the Expedition Ramp, then shoot the captive ball to ignite the explosives. This will drop a load of rubble on the worksite. Shoot the Stone Crusher machinery in the orbit to clear it away and complete the Work.
SMELT:
Mined resources must be melted down into ingots. Shoot the SMELT ramp five times to start Smelt Work to smelt minerals down for processing. Once the smelting furnace is ready, travel down to the lower playfield via the Expedition Ramp. Then turn the red valve to increase the heat until the molten pit on the right is lit. Shoot the pit to complete the Work.
HAUL:
Much of mining is moving minerals around, both valuable gems and useless rocks. Shoot the HAUL ramp five times to begin Haul Work. This will light one of three ramps randomly. Shoot this track to haul minerals out of the mine. You will see the mine cart on the plunger lane move forward. Shoot the wrong track and the minecart will fall back a bit. Get it to the Headquarters building to complete Haul Work.
PROCESS:
These minerals have to be refined to a usable state. Shoot the PROCESS ramp five times to begin Process Work. Two control panel drop targets will appear. One on the main playfield, and one underground. Shoot both to light one ramp each. Shoot both ramps, then the Smelt ramp to complete Process Work.
EXTRACT:
To get the good stuff, you have to drill deeper. Shoot the drill in the center loop to start Extract Work. This will activate the stone cutter on the upper playfield. Shoot the violet ore six times to carve precious metals from the caverns. While this mode is active, you can shoot the drill again to raise your Gem Cut Value, which is awarded upon completing Extract Work.
EXPEDITION:
On top of mining, you must also explore the alien planet for new mining locations. Shoot the EXPEDITION ramp five times to begin the search. This will light the crane above the Haul ramp. Shoot it accurately and the crane will snatch your ball. Shoot the crane again with a new ball to dislodge it and begin Expedition Multiball. Now shoot all green lit shots without losing a ball, and then shoot the Headquarters on the far right OR the hidden kicker via the Expedition Ramp for the final jackpot that completes Expedition Work.
-----MINERALS: (6 Minerals to mine. Only one can be played at a time. Shoot the Headquarters building on the far right to select your mineral with the flippers and plunger key. This mode will stay active indefinitely until you switch to a new mineral. There are no time limits when mining.)
SANGUINE QUARTZ:
A mystical red gem that can heal human disease and injury. Three quartz veins will appear on wire return ramps. Smash all three to locate the big red quartz crystal on the right orbit. Hit the Excavation Hammer to mine one piece of Sanguine Quartz. (Award: Mine four or more to increase your chances of having your ball randomly saved.)
PYROCLAX:
A rare volcanic stone that seems to have almost unlimited combustion power for fuel. Shoot the volcano on the left orbit to flood the mine with lava. When it cools, Pyroclax will appear beneath the drill. Shoot the drill loop to extract it, then the Smelt ramp to mine one Pyroclax. (Award: Mine four or more to unlock a radar dish bonus round and increase its value.)
STARDUST TOPAZ:
A celestial crystal that seems to grant incredibly good fortune to those who possess it. Shoot the three left ramps to find Stardust Topaz. It will appear on the upper playfield. Smash five pieces with the ball to collect one Stardust Topaz. You will have to alternate shooting ramps and shooting crystals. (Award: Mine four or more to increase the value of filling mineral orders.)
PRIMORDIAL MUD:
The namesake of the mine, this planet is famous for its radioactive primordial goo. But far from deadly, this ooze has been shown to spawn growth in plants even in the harshest conditions. This could save the agricultural crisis! Shoot the hidden cave in the right orbit to locate pools of primordial mud around the mine. Roll over all three to collect one piece of Primordial Mud. (Award: Mine four or more to permanently increase the value of the ramps.)
ETERNOULINE:
Perfect for building machines, homes, and even human armor, Eternouline is 100% indestructible. But mining it is tricky. Descend into the lower playfield to turn the blue water valve. This will release the flood gates and fill the mine with water. When it drains, Eternouline is left to be retrieved. Hit both flipper bumpers to grab the crystals, then shoot the Process ramp to mine one Eternouline. (Award: Mine four or more to increase your multiball jackpot.)
PHANTAMATHYST:
The most valuable of all the crystals, Phantamathyst has unknowable, almost god-like powers. Who knows what miracles can be achieved with this amazing stone? Shoot the moving purple shards above the three left ramps to try to snag one. Catch four shards and the Fusion Machine will appear by the drill. Shoot your ball into this narrow shot to fuse the four shards together and mine one Phantamathyst. (Award: Mine four or more to increase the value of the Work completion bonus round and the Video Mode.)
-----MINOR FEATURES:
Orders: Shoot the right kicker in the lower playfield to light the order. Now shoot the kicker in the right of the upper playfield to obtain your Order Requisition. The "Balls Left" reel will show you what minerals are requested back on Earth. Usually it will be 1-3 of a 1-2 minerals. As you mine these minerals, lights will appear in the lower left of the table showing how much is available. When you have enough to fill the order, shoot the Order kicker again to send them to Earth. You do not have to fill orders if you don't want to, but they're worth big points and give you a mineral to aim for!
Mountain Multiball: Every time you complete Work, you can lock one ball on the right orbit. Lock three on the three primordial peaks to start Mountain Multiball. Then shoot the orbit for jackpots.
Video Mode: Every time you mine a mineral, video mode will be lit in the lower playfield. Use the plunger key to mine stones but avoid bombs.
Damaged Machinery: Shooting the right orbit runs the risk of colliding with the rotating fan blade. If you do, your mining machinery is damaged, but don’t worry! Malfunctions often lead to improved efficiency. Shoot the haywire grinder in the lower playfield to restore its function, then shoot the captive ball to reboot the system in safe mode. This will increase the value of completing Work and Mining.
Treasure Trove: Every five million points, the violet ore on the upper playfield will begin to flash rainbow color. Shoot it to find a secret treasure trove and earn a random award.
Multiplier Minigame: When you shoot the Expedition Ramp, before entering the lower playfield, you have a brief bonus chance to shoot the moving target. Every shot gives you rare Rainbow Crystal and increases your multiplier (up to 10).

What's New in Version 1.1 (See full changelog)
- -Made it slightly more difficult.
- -Added download and play instructions.
Can't get table to start. No key works.
It should start immediately! Push the plunger key and the ball should launch! Sorry for any confusion. Let me know if it still doesn't work.
In cabinet mode the sides are cut off, is there a way to adjust this?
Sorry, I didn't notice. Perhaps there should be a text box that says FREE PLAY.
Also, for me, to see the B2S, I had to update the code:
If Table1.ShowDT = true then
Set Controller = CreateObject("B2S.Server")
Controller.Run
BallsLeftText.Visible = true
ScoreText.Visible = true
In cabinet mode the sides are cut off, is there a way to adjust this?
Mine is cut off by default too but adjusting the video settings fixes it for me, namely choosing Cabinet and then clicking "Window" instead of exclusive full screen. I hope this helps!

I don't know much about how the B2Ses work, but I was told to change all of these:
Table1.ShowDT = false
to
Table1.ShowDT = true
and that makes the backglass show up for me. There's three of those in the code, I believe. I don't have a cabinet so I can only really test on a laptop screen. I hope this helps. But hey, I guess as long as you know how to make it work, that's what matters! Thanks for playing!
I changed the other lines to true also, otherwise when the backglass shows, the embedded DMD does not.
Its a nice game but way to easy especially with those big flippers, like the table though the animation of the tools is really good and love the way the red runs down the table,but please make it harder to play after 20 mins i was still on ball 1.
Why is the download in two parts? Neither one works.
Why is the download in two parts? Neither one works.
The one time I don't put an explanation for how to extract them... sigh. Did you report it broken? It works, you just have to download both to one folder, extract the part 1 file with WinRar or whatever you have and it should combine the other part. Why did I do it in two parts? I have to. The site doesn't let you upload one big VPX file anymore. No idea why.
