Download Aztec High-Tapped 1.0

Some years ago, I bought a Williams Aztec pinball machine from someone who had kept it stored in their garage for who-knows-how-long. After getting it up and running, I found the gameplay to be fun but a little slow and sluggish for my taste.
One day a pinball tech was at the house working on some of my games. I mentioned to him that I wished the Aztec had a bit more pep to it. “Want me to ‘high-tap’ it?” he asked. He explained that EMs of that era often had an extra high-power lug available on the power transformer. The games came factory-wired to a normal lug on the transformer, but wiring them to the secondary high-power lug would, in effect, put the game on steroids. “Hell yeah,” I said, “let’s do it!”
High-tapping that Aztec changed the game! Faster… crisper… everything that flipped or kicked now flipped or kicked harder. It went from being somewhat boring to being what remains one of my top 3 all-time favorite EMs. Sadly, I sold the machine a few years later and have regretted it ever since.
When I waded into virtual pinball last year, I couldn’t wait to play the VPX re-creation of Aztec. Slowly but surely learning my way around the VPX editor, I started tweaking TeamPP’s re-creation of Aztec here and there to make it play more like the old faithful high-tapped game I had owned. I believe I have nailed it to the best of my ability.
This is my first attempt at a mod, although the credit goes to TeamPP (JPJ, Chucky, and Arngrim) for their most excellent re-creation of Aztec, along with their generous permission to mod without approval. I hope some of you who like EMs will enjoy Aztec High-Tapped!

What's New in Version 1.0 (See full changelog)
- Modified table incline, bumpers, slings, flippers, and spinner to provide faster gameplay.
- Adjusted lighting, replay levels, and replay scorecard.
Got to test your table, while remembering how the original table plays.
Wow, that's quite fast and I like it ! Makes me feel like playing and old Sega pinball or a Rally pinball table, but bigger.
I didn't knew about that high-tapped function that was possible on old tables, thanks to made me discover this and for this table that adds a nice twist to the original.
Hi texascompadre,
first of all, thank you for this nice pinball.
I want to highlight you a very little components placement error.
Walls Wall96, Wall97 and Wall98 are set to Top Height and Bottom Height too low and the ball top penetrates in the apron.
I suggest you to change those walls Top Height and Bottom Height parameters to 60 to fix the issue.
Thank you again for your time spent on this nice oldie.
Massimo.
Pmax, what version of VPX are you using?

There is no media pack.
Plays much better than the slow (normal) version. Will definitely keep that one ! Thanks a million for that nice upgrade.
Thanks, this is a very nice upgrade!
FYI, I'm seeing the same thing Pmax was seeing. I believe I was using 10.72 on this table.
Very good table. Thank you very much.
Haven't tried this yet, but I love the idea! I high-tap my EMs as well when it's possible. Just did it to a Buccaneer recently.
Very interesting information on your real pin. I would have thought that would have fried something, but I realize older electronics were not as delicate as today solid state stuff. The table plays really fast, I kind of like the slower pace of the EM tables, but if someone is looking for a challenging EM this is a good one. Thanks for taking the time to recreate your high tapped table and sharing it with the group.
