Initial announcement from Jeff:
VPX conversion
Artwork done by Hauntfreaks
others to thank: GNance, JPSalas, Pinuck, hauntfreaks, Borgdog, Arngrim
in addition to the "standard" keys (typically "1" to start game and "5" for coin), I've added "3" as another coin input and "4" for coin and auto-start game (like I recall the dime slots generally were) to simulate 3 coin slots
when game is not in progress, holding down left flipper for about 3-5 seconds will bring up the options menu. left flipper selects item, right flipper changes option.
I've also included shadows for the ball and flippers. If you want to turn them off look for these lines at the beginning of the script:
Const ShadowFlippersOn = true
Const ShadowBallOn = true
change to false if you want either of the shadows not showing on your tables
My view on Beat Time: Unfortunately I have never seen the table in real, it was never offered in the last 10 years at ebay. So think it is worth to have this recreation from Jeff updated. I learned with this table how ball impact to rubber gives its natural sound. And I introduce a new game physic. Here I offer you:
Version 1.0b
Game:
- added few lights under plastics, not original, but looking good
- added screws at bumper caps and made these a little larger
- improved ball and ball position in the plunger lane (different plunger sound with or without ball)
- many, many new sound and sound sequences for the score motor
- new game physics - cab optimized
- new material assignments for metal sheets - better appearance
- new material assignments for plastic pegs - better appearance in red
- new POV for cab users
- yellow and red capped bumpers parallel engaged (thanks to jejepinball & kiwi for providing the command)
- rolling ball sound level adjusted
- side lane entries now with larger barriers in order to look good and to reduce ball losts
- Apron interference with wooden inner siderail removed
Backglass:
- animated score reels turn
- all lighted messages with new fonts and some in corrected position
- blinking lights improved (typo error in script & position under glass corrected)
- score reels illuminations adapted to real game
All this in kind tribute to Jeff Whitehead.

Nice one thank you ![]()
Very well done Mustang1961 ! I love the EM machines!
Keep up the good work!
Nice!! my PF and BG redraw lives on....
Thank you.
Very good job, but flippers are acting odd.
This is great. It's the only version of Beat Time I found with chimes for most of the targets and rollovers (the others had muted sound), and then for personal use, I just modded the playfield and backglass back to factory because I'm a purist! Excellent table Mustang, thanks!
