gamatron sonic flight2000
Based on the table by Sonic from 1986.
Graphics redrawn by pedator
Directb2s also by pedator.
Thanks to akiless50000 for the redraw of the backdrop image used in the db2s.
This table uses as default the newer ROM, version 35, of Flight2000, which can be downloaded from here: vpuniverse
This ROM gives new rules and sounds to the table.
The rom used can be changed in the script.
I couldn't get the original rom from Sonic to work, but it had the same sounds and rules as the Pinstar Gamatron ROM. Maybe one day I'll get that ROM to work.
The layout is the same as Pinstar's Gamatron, but the graphics are more colorful, as it used to be in the Spanish tables.
This table was made with VPX 10.7

What's New in Version 6.0.0 (See full changelog)
- 6.0.0 Updated September 2025
- - Moved LUT to User Options (F12)
- - Added some extra options to the User Options (F12)
- - Updated physics to my latest rev 4.3.1. mostly bouncier rubbers and harder flippers.
- 5.5.1 Updated 15.03.2025
- Modifications made by Themer to add support for the rom flight2mb
- -Added flight2mb as an additional option to the list of predefined ROM sets
- -Added a timer to kicker 5 to disable the switch after 100 milliseconds, such that flight2mb triggers the ball walker.
- -Added sub procedures to automatically switch the solenoids used for the ball walker based on the ROM set and dipswitch 14.
- -Corrected the switch for the right outlane (which was assigned to the center outhole instead of the right outlane).
- 5.5.0 Updated 12.12.2024
- - New playfield mesh to avoid the ball getting stuck on top of the flippers.
- - Fixed my ball spin control, which were too aggressive, and it killed the ball's acceleration, making the ball too slow, getting stuck on ramps, and also being unable to climb the ramps on many tables.
- - Updated for VPX8 (adjusted reflections, equirectangular ball, linked flashers to lights, incandescent lights)
- - Updated physics to my Rev3. Including physics materials, flipper code and slingshot shapes.
- - Updated LUT images and display system, 10 darker shades and 10 warmer shades.
- - some graphical changes (playfield mesh with holes, metal wall guides, lights warmer)
- - added a screenshot for scutters file explorer handler
- 4.0.0 Updated 28.9.2022
- - Updated to my VPX7 physics
- - cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
- - Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
- - Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
- - Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
- - Some small small script updates, like the Rolling sound and PlaySoundAt routines.
- - Made the light inserts warmer.
- 1.0.1 Just a few small visual fixes.
- 1.0.0 Released 25.04.2021

Nice looking table, thanks jp. But I'm having the same Gamename not found issue as a few other people mentioned. Can someone please let me know the fix. Thanks
Resolved the Game Name Not Found error message.
In the script I changed Line 18 cGameName to flight2k
Loaded the table with VPX 10.7 (Rev 129) and it got the Game Name Not Found error message.
Loaded the table with VPX 10.7 (Rev 4406 32bit) (a much earlier version) and there was no error message and the game loaded and played great.
So...the issue seems to be with the version of VPX 10.7 you are using.
Anyone know why would this be??

Same here: game not found, running on 10.7 (not sure which build though).
You will need the parent ROM "flight2k" in roms folder for the VPUniverse modified rules rom to work.

Always check the support topic, as you may find the answers to your questions, and try to state or ask your questions their, as it will post your question in the forums where the author can actually see your question, and will respond quicker.
When you don't use the support topic to post your questions, the author will have to come to this page to even see your question, which usually does not happen frequently.
You can find the Support Topic for each download on right hand side of download page as seen in pic.
Carry on.
Bit of a newbie question here....
I downloaded the ROM listed above, and comes up with an error "Game name not found"
Using 10.7.
Rom name matches the script.
Must be something silly and easy that I'm not seeing?
Same over here
Thanks for the info xenonph and thanks jp for the table!!
Thank you so much for this nice table JP! A lot fun to play it. ROM link from the first page worked for me.
Keep healty.
I never seen this table. It looks pretty cool! Thank you for making and sharing this table with us
I found that if in the script you replace flight2k with gamatron it will work. However when i save that, close the table, and then open it back up it just closses the table before it even loads. I want the real rom to work but i cannot even play it. Is there a way to fix it?
This feels like another instance in which the v4 physics update has made the table a lot less playable via unintended consequences. In the prior version of the table, ball coming down the right spinner lane would feed the left flipper. With this update, they feed right down the middle.
