CARtoons roach bugs aged retro gemini rust 2021 mod RtxBS

Screenshots
This is a modification of CARtoons RC (2017) v2.3, by HauntFreaks, BorgDog, and SliderPoint - with contributions from Dark, Randr, Toxie, and Fuzzel

"My boss found this old pinball machine in his barn and stuck it in our break room, bugs and all!  I thought it was old and unfair, so I hammered some nails in...hopefully I didn't break anything...
um, if the lights go out...just give it a slap." RADDOG

Hold left flipper before starting game for Operator's Menu
See script for more toggle-able options
**Arachnophobe Warning** turn off spider in script, I don't want to freak anyone out (too much)

Thank you to Toxie and Fuzzel for VPX in general, and for their excellent documentation and posts clarifying all of its features.
Special thanks to JPSalas for the physics, shadows, and sounds in his excellent Arcade Physics v3 2nd edition, and for advising me to lower the max velocity of the ball - which led to fine-tuning the physics of the whole table, then tweaking the flippers to be more worn out like the original.

I've been a fan of digital pinball games for long time, but somehow only just discovered Visual Pinball. Learning so I could make my own tables became...a bit of an obsession.  I chose to mod this table because it's so unique, but simple enough that I could follow the code (I am not a programmer, and I apologize in advance to those of you who are).

I discovered visual pinball just 2 weeks ago, but I've put about 42 hours of work into this (and a lot more time mentally). (as of 1.0, a lot more now!)
I hope my love of the medium and this table shine through, and that you enjoy playing it!

>>>>>>B2S LINK<<<<
(Change the b2s filename to match the table name)
Major changes in Nailed: RtxBS ON, Physics, Nails, Multiball, Outlane Save Roach, Shadows, Lights, Sounds, Breakable Elements
My goal was to give it a couple more features, while staying true to its 'aged' aesthetic. I'd like to think I pulled it off!

What's New in Version 1.3f (See full changelog)

  • PoV change, and Final Update: I rushed this one out when I first got into VP, before I knew about the proper way to get permission; basically I didn't wait long enough and the answer would have been "no" because of the IP. I got approval to keep it up after, but it didn't feel right to work on it thereafter.
  • It sounds like there is a proper update from HauntFreaks in the works, so keep an eye out for that!

First thanks a million, the table look amazing ! Can anyone share the link to the rom for the table ??? I cant find it Many thanks guys

Not intended lol. When did it happen and do just the controls lock up, or does it freeze VPX entirely?

Locked up twice on me as well.  During multiball, shortly after the 1st ball drains.  The ball draining sound is stuck on, the ball on the table freezes in place, flippers do not operate.  Pressing ESC exits to VPX.  Score both times was over 250,000, if that matters.

No rom, table is original, completely scripted in VPX.

Sounds like it is my multiball that's doing it, then. No script error, and you're still able to quit to VPX normally? I'll take a look and see if I can get any lockups like that.

Double post, please ignore -_-

Might as well use this space!  Multiball crashes should be a thing of the past now.  In 1.2 I was "juggling" the balls off the table by creating and destroying them, in order to have something for the roach "mirrorballs" to point to.  I think the crashes were because the timing of the roach finishing its move could land on the same frame as this destruction, leaving the mirrorball hanging.  I was never able to recreate it myself, but it might have been more common on slower CPUs.

In 1.3, the multiball is just a physical second ball with its own place below the apron.  I've launched a hundred or so multiballs on various table angles with no issue, so hopefully it's flawless now.  Plus having a less "video-gamey" solution just feels better :D

So i can't get any scoring to show up in desktop mode.  Any tips?  I don't see anything in the script to turn dmd on or off.

Nevermind i had to disable b2s

Great table, i love the details and keep discovering more little perfections in it.

One of my fav EM tables, just because the looks are so genuine.

Keep up the good work!

Finally got the bells to work. Was the settings in the sound manager. However I notice that the bells stop working when you get to Ball #5. Anyone else having that issue ?

So, when i play the table, the roach will sometimes drain and counts them as one of my balls and ends the round.  Then the roach will show up in the shooter lane as a ball, with a regular ball and i have to shoot them out.  Any suggestions?

I've had the roach wander down into the drain a lot, both on normal games and while testing with the apron invisible. I've never had him count as a regular ball lol, he just hangs out down there and the game continues without him. Anything special about your setup that might change the logic of the ball handling?

And I've been hesitant to mess with the roach holes because I don't want to mess anything up, but the left slingshot is often a problem so I'll see if I can fix it with a bit more kick force or stronger magnets.
