SharpShooter Bally 1961 Shooting Gallery

Screenshots

This is not a pinball machine... surprise! This is a vacuum launch shooting gallery. It is a remake of a 1961 Bally Sharpshooter. I made this table a long time ago and it was originally made for desktop users exclusively. Finding a good view for virtual cab users is pretty much impossible.  However, I did make a rotated view (rotated 270) and also made a B2S for it. The thing is, you can't play it on a cab without a keyboard, mouse, or a usb gamepad with a thumb pad.

Years ago, before VP was even open source, I made a COM interop program to communicate joystick and mouse input with VP via vbscript. Well I dug that COM interop source code back up and recompiled it in Visual Studio 2019. This plugin when installed will allow this game to use three different type of controls to move and shoot the gun. Best control is the mouse in my opinion, but it takes a little calibration in the beginning to move the gun to all four corners. The next control would be a gamepad with a 8 way thumb pad and whatever buttons you have set to be flippers in VP to shoot. Lastly you can use the number pad on a keyboard as a 8 way control and use whatever buttons you have set to be flippers on the keyboard.

There are install instructions in the download zip file.

I hope you bother to install this and I hope you enjoy it.

Amazing work Rascal!!  Extremely impressive leveraging VPX for this!  I remember either this one or something similar in a Shakeys Pizza Parlour.  I got everything up just as your instruction file noted however using a mouse only worked for a few seconds before the game decided to ignore it.  I could use my Num Keypad though just fine.  Gotta get back to sniping that darn fox!

Yeah sometimes the mouse gets lost, but if you hit esc and then resume, it starts the mouse again.

Aaaargh!

If you were in Italy probably you were convicted to to jail for the subliminal advertising of the famous red-canned sparkling drink and smoking cigarettes!

I'm joking of course, thank you for an another fantastic non-pinball game.

I'll install it on my PC because my cabinet has the maintenance keyboard locked on a drawer under the cabinet that raise on its left side when needed and for that it is no way practical for gaming.

Again thank you for sharing your time spent doing this game.

Have a great day.

Is there a way to adjust the mouse sensitivity? It's very jumpy and erratic.

Didn't work for me despite installing VPMouseJoystickInputSetup. Maybe this got broken in VPX?

Rascal, This is fantastic!!!  I have been thinking about how to recreate "Chicago Coin" type EM light gun games from the 1960s and 1970s.  I would use an analog positional joystick to control it.  Can you explain how the visual pinball target and control system works?  I suspect many EM machines ran their targets on a "track", pop-ups  or rotating circles.  Sorry, I'm just now getting started in the visual pinball world. I'd appreciate if there are any tutorials you could point me to that apply to this concept. thank you.
