Iron Man Stern SAM
Based on the Stern table Iron Man from 2010.
Playfield made by me. Others graphics are from Stern's table.
Notes:
I made this table several years ago while I was beta testing VPX. It was never meant to be uploaded, so give thanks to Carlos Guizzo who convinced me to upload it.
I was going to make this table to play without the ROM, and I started with a new playfield. I finished the playfield, but at that time the beta VPX came out and I rebuilt the table using VPX. It played so good that I forgot about the original script and I simply made it using Stern's rom. At the end the plastics were made form Stern's table too. So the only original image is the playfield. This is another tables, like the Transformers, were I made wire ramps instead of plastics ramps. Who found out that plastic ramps was the best in an IRON Man table?
Since this table was never meant to be released, it does not contain DOF or other commands, but it is playable in a cabinet or FS modes. There is already an Iron Man table for VPX, so please don't start making mods of this table.
Although there are some changes in the table from the original, still it should play as close as possible to the real one.
It uses the rom from Iron Man Vault Edition, which can be downloaded from Stern's web site and renamed to im_183ve.zip

- - New playfield mesh to stop the ball stuck on top of the flippers.

Hello this looks like a gorgeous table but I understand the im_186ve rom is no longer avail?? I can only find the 183 version. Any help? Please and thx so much
busca im_183ve en google y la encontraras sin problemas
Hello. I've had issues running this table, but after little bit of digging, I made this work. In my case, I've found out that I had a version of VPinMame that did not have support for (or not knowledge of) the im_186ve (or even im_186) rom file.
The easy way to find out whether VPinMame would run the rom successfully is to open setup.exe (for 32-bit windows) or setup64.exe (for 64-bit windows) (both files are present in the VPinMame folder, usually inside the PinballX folder), and click on the "Test" button. Then, scroll to the rom name you'd like to check (I've clicked inside the list, and then typed the letter j, which would make it find the first entry starting with that letter, which in my case is just below the "Iron Man Vault Edition (V1.83) - im_183ve" entry), and then click on the "Check ROMs" button. If the rom(s) you're interested in running (say, im_186 or im_186ve) is(are) not present, then VPinMame does not know about it.
Then, armed with this knowledge, search (Google is your friend) for the latest (installed) VPinMame-supported rom for this table (im_183ve in my case), and place it in the appropriate VPinMame/roms directory (as usual).
All that remains is to edit the script for this table: search for the missing rom name (im_186ve), and replace it with the rom name you've just installed.
I've been running this table with the changes I've described above without any issues so far. Hope this helps.
What I did to get V1.86 of the ROM to work:
Downloaded the file from the Stern Page (Iron Man Vault Edition 1.86)
Renamed the 1.86 downloaded file to : im_183ve.bin
create a zip file from this file : im_183ve.zip (the content of the zip file is: im_183ve.bin)
copy this zip to the rom path of VPinMame folder
Change Script (Line 25) to:
Const cGameName = "im_183ve" 'vault edition rom
Everything in the filenames is related to 1.83 !!! but looking to the DMD shows the right version: 1.86 ROM version!!!
Hope this helps
Martin
Awesome table ! Big fan of your work. For those having trouble with the Stern code the correct naming convention is im_183ve not not im_186ve. You will also need to change it in the script on line 25.
All I did was download 183 bios version and renamed the BIN file inside the ZIP to: im_186.bin leaving it zip name: im_186ve.zip
I suppose it uses the same bios file. 186 is not available anymore.
hopes this helps
Unfortunately I am unable to find a b2s file for this table. There was one but he removed it from vpuniverse and when I wrote him to ask for a copy of it he said no, he deleted all his files and sold his cabinet. Part of the vpinball massacre I guess.
Well I tried everything and couldn't make it work either
Yea me neither is says game not found
i did this "Renamed the 1.86 downloaded file to : im_183ve.bin
create a zip file from this file : im_183ve.zip (the content of the zip file is: im_183ve.bin)
copy this zip to the rom path of VPinMame folder
Change Script (Line 25) to:
Const cGameName = "im_183ve" 'vault edition rom"
and it starts loading now but then stop and says rom not found any other advise??
restarted the whole program and it works now! ok
you are really the best !!!
the rom downloading at sternpinball is 1.86 but i think this table needs 1.83 rom no more available for the download....

Hey JPSalas, loving the table, but noticed that after shooting the ball at start it sits right next to the most right bumper and need to nudge the table to have it going... maybe You can do something about it ? Happens to me 90% of the time.
