Iron Man Stern SAM
Based on the Stern table Iron Man from 2010.
Playfield made by me. Others graphics are from Stern's table.
Notes:
I made this table several years ago while I was beta testing VPX. It was never meant to be uploaded, so give thanks to Carlos Guizzo who convinced me to upload it.
I was going to make this table to play without the ROM, and I started with a new playfield. I finished the playfield, but at that time the beta VPX came out and I rebuilt the table using VPX. It played so good that I forgot about the original script and I simply made it using Stern's rom. At the end the plastics were made form Stern's table too. So the only original image is the playfield. This is another tables, like the Transformers, were I made wire ramps instead of plastics ramps. Who found out that plastic ramps was the best in an IRON Man table?
Since this table was never meant to be released, it does not contain DOF or other commands, but it is playable in a cabinet or FS modes. There is already an Iron Man table for VPX, so please don't start making mods of this table.
Although there are some changes in the table from the original, still it should play as close as possible to the real one.
It uses the rom from Iron Man Vault Edition, which can be downloaded from Stern's web site and renamed to im_183ve.zip

What's New in Version 6.0.0 (See full changelog)
- 6.0.0 Updated September 2025
- - Moved LUT to User Options (F12)
- - Added some extra options to the User Options (F12)
- - Updated physics to my latest rev 4.3.1. mostly bouncier rubbers and harder flippers.
- - Activated the modulated flashers as default.
- 5.5.0 Updated 13.12.2024
- - New playfield mesh to avoid the ball getting stuck on top of the flippers.
- - Fixed my ball spin control, which were too aggressive, and it killed the ball's acceleration, making the ball too slow, getting stuck on ramps, and also being unable to climb the ramps on many tables.
- 5.0.1 Updated 06.12.2024
- - New playfield mesh to stop the ball stuck on top of the flippers.
- 5.0.0 Updated 19.07.2024
- - Updated for VPX8 release version (adjusted reflections, lights & flashers, equirectangular ball, flipper animations)
- - some graphical changes (playfield mesh with holes, incandescent lights)
- - added a screenshot for scutters file explorer handler

- 4.0.0 Updated 3.10.2022
- - Updated to my VPX7 physics
- - cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
- - Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
- - Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
- - Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
- - Some small script updates, like the Rolling sound and PlaySoundAt routines.
- - Made the light inserts warmer.
- 3.0 Updated 31.10.2020
- Updated script, physics & graphics:
- - added the arcade physics 3.0
- - enhanced the images if they were not already 4k (or close enough :) ).
- - removed workarounds for the vpinmame droptargets as they fully support SSF (hit sounds) with the latest vpinmame.
- - new rolling routine that now includes the ball shadow, the ball drop sound from Rothbauer and my ball speed control.
- - Easy change of the ambient lightning: Hold down LeftMagnaSave and with RightMagnaSave it will switch between LUT images, from light to dark, 9 levels, and the selection will be saved for the table.
- - added sideblades
- - some extra collision sounds.
- 1.2.1 First release. 14.07.2018

This new 3.0 version takes the im_186ve rom which you can get at the Stern website.
Tried renaming the stern file like above and also installed non ve rom file also to no success
Same issue here, using latest 186ve from stern, renamed and zipped to im_186ve s not working for me also. Using VPX 10.6.1. Is it a VPX version issue?
Download the rom at stern & it should be named IM21860V it will be a bin file, you need to right click on it & go down to send to & select Compressed (zipped) folder & then it will be a zip file. Then just rename it im_186ve then put it in your rom folder & you should be good to go.
Done that clyde. Also made sure line in script: Const cGameName = "im_186ve" 'vault edition rom was active (ie. not comment), no go.
