Scared Stiff VP91x v1.4.4FS

Version: 1.4.4
Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): jpsalas

Description:
Based on the Scared Stiff table from Bally made in 1996, with some additions like the skull pile lights and the boogie dancers.
This is the basic FS version. This version does include all the graphics and reels for the spider wheel and backdrop lights, but they are disabled. Now it is up to you to adapt the table to the system you are using, uvp or spanned. I guess some other author/group will make a mod for your system. Both highrise and I are available for questions.

New in 1.1
- fixed some bugs (script errors)
- made the table faster and it uses less video memory.
- added the "up" key to show the backdrop. This is for users with just one screen. The reels aren't rotated so still the images can be used to be moved to the second monitor.

Update 1.3
I decided to update only this reduced version to VP91x, since I want this table to play as fast as it can.

New in this version:
- Alpha ramps
- New settings
- New bone flippers: angle independent
- Remove the big images for the spider and lights since most of you uses these FS tables with UVP, so they aren't really needed. I added the spider lights to the apron, in case any on of uses just a single screen. If you have a 2 screen setup and don't like the lights then just move them out of the table smile.gif
- Of course there are also higher resolution playfield and plastics.

1.3.1 Updated 16 April
- tried to fix the ball disappearing during multiball.
- changed the flipper lanes for a smoother ball flow

1.3.2 Update 16 April
- Thanks to Sheltemke for pointing out where the ball got stuck. I think this one is taken cared now smile.gif

1.3.3 Updated 17 April
- tried to fix the ball falling through the skull ramp. To fix that I made all the alpha ramps non collidable and I have added normal invisible ramps. Let's hope those ramps will not leave holes for the ball to fall through.
- made the sw37 kicker more random
- changed all the sounds to 22Khz.
- added abetter wheel with the spider and lights to the apron. I guess this is for the people with just one monitor (like me smile.gif )

Update 1.4
- Changed the flashers, now using alpha ramps.
- added a flasher under the left ramp
- changed a few settings.

(reuploaded the table to fix the decal on one of the spider lights)

Update 1.4.1 4 September 2011
- fixed skillshot
- added ball collision and rolling sounds
- added support for prototype rom
- adjusted flipper settings
- made the flashers brighter

Update 1.4.2
- fixed (I hope smile.gif ) the collision script.

1.4.3 Updated 9 september
- fixed uppersling script error
- fixed multiball ball collision error.
- fixed ball getting stuck in 2 gates

1.4.4 Last fix for the ball collision smile.gif

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Looks excellent JP & Co!!!. A question though, other than the spider wheel and the bone flippers, what else has changed since the FS version 1?

Has anyone got any idea why my flippers dont show under the boney reels? i can see the bones but not the flippers underneath.

I hope someone can get the spider working in FS mode to show on the playfield as iam only running a pf monitor and a dmd monitor.

Awesome work dudes very nice table and the physics are unbeliveable

Super travail.

Je pense que dans le script il y a une petite erreur , ne faudrait il pas remplacer:

Sub sw58_Hit():Controller.Switch(58) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la5.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw58_UnHit():Controller.Switch(58) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw74_Hit():Controller.Switch(74) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la6.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw74_UnHit():Controller.Switch(74) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw71_Hit():Controller.Switch(71) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la7.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw71_UnHit():Controller.Switch(71) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw72_Hit():Controller.Switch(72) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la8.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw72_UnHit():Controller.Switch(72) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw73_Hit():Controller.Switch(73) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la9.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw73_UnHit():Controller.Switch(73) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw68_Hit():Controller.Switch(68) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la10.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw68_UnHit():Controller.Switch(68) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw25_Hit():Controller.Switch(25) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la11.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw25_UnHit():Controller.Switch(25) = 0:la4.isDropped = 0:End Sub

par

Sub sw58_Hit():Controller.Switch(58) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la5.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw58_UnHit():Controller.Switch(58) = 0:la5.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw74_Hit():Controller.Switch(74) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la6.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw74_UnHit():Controller.Switch(74) = 0:la6.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw71_Hit():Controller.Switch(71) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la7.isDropped = 1:End Sub

Sub sw73_Hit():Controller.Switch(73) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la9.isDropped = 1:End Sub
Sub sw73_UnHit():Controller.Switch(73) = 0:la9.isDropped = 0:End Sub

Sub sw68_Hit():Controller.Switch(68) = 1:Playsound "sensor":la10.isDropped = 1:End Sub

If anyone has the UVP backglass from Flying Dutchman's site, could you upload it here please? Rapidshare is a weee bit overloaded at the moment. I need to fill my UVP backglass addiction!! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for reporting the errors. I'll make a revision of the table but for now they are only changes in the script, so I'll wait in case some new error pops up which need a change in the table.

I managed to download the UVP for Scared Stiff from Rapidshare and even though the spider doesn't spin, it REALLY completes this table!!

Best Regards,
Todd.

Flippers not showing: resolved (cross posted to other Scared Stiff release threads)

Played a few games of this on my PC of late and everything was fine graphics wise. Played this on my arcade cab last night and noticed the flippers were invisible under the boney flippers.

Tried HW off: table becomes too sluggish
Tired the reorder option: fixes the flippers but then other plastics disappear

That's so bizarre as its fine on my pc. I then tried another table, JPS's Spider-man and noticed the fonts looked odd (missing segments). What the heck? Is my 9400 starting to flake up? I was thinking "drivers" but I'm running the same version. So I took a look at the resolution and noticed I was running in 16 bit color, while my VP on the desktop was running at 32bit.

So I ran it at 32bit color and voila, everything shows up well in the Spider-man table. I then ran Scared Stiff and voila, the flippers reappear.

So anyone with the invisible flipper problem under the boney reels, double-check you are indeed running it in 32bit color, give it a try and let me know if it works ok now. I had assumed as many did that there wasn't much difference in running 16bit color but in some cases, that does not seem to be accurate.

Rob
