File Name: Future Dmd (virtual dmd for future pinball)

File Submitter: gauntletlover

File Submitted: 07 Jun 2013

File Category: Future Pinball

Author(s): gauntletlover
Manufacturer: Original
Year: 2013
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

Future DMD will create a virtual dmd that can be positioned in a 3 monitor cabinet similarly to the one used in Visual Pinball for Future Pinball!. Your dmd is no longer limited to your backbox or playfield. If you have a 3 monitor cabinet you can now put your dmd where it belongs! You can choose to leave the DMD running between games or launch from your favorite front end. An example has been included for Hyperpin and Pinballx front ends. Instructions are included in the FutureDMD Setup pdf file.

*NEW* Added a Plugin for PinballX to display game information on FutureDMD while navigating your game lists:

It will show things like:

  • Highlighted game's name
  • Last time played
  • Who holds the High Score
  • How many times the game has been played
  • 2nd and 3rd place scores
  • Average time a game might last
As well as customizable messages can be created for every single table making each one unique!

Thank you very much, great job! :otvclap:

I'm already doing time trials and I'm doing pretty well, using BAM and Hyperpin.
I just need to edit the. Ahk
Could you tell me how?

I will be attentive to the final version, thanks again

Is there a way to bring it in front of backglass in Pinballx and a exit after closing the table?  Do I need a scribt file or similar? The little programm is a fascinating project!

if i remember correct  you need to go online ad DL the components for Netframework.....i cant play any VP+ tables for the same problem......my PB PC does not go online......PB only......looks like NF installs into control panel for the FP DMD and VP+.....is there a way to install NF without going online?

Any chance of making this compatible with .Net 4?   Looks like a great concept, thank you for your effort!

I have a rotated monitor for my third DMD monitor, is there a way to rotate the virtual DMD 90 degrees?

Hey Dennis, No plans for today or tomorrow but maybe in the future. You should be able to run .net 3.5 run-times on a machine with 4 installed. You can download them from the Microsoft site.

@Ckovanda

Unfortunately there is not a way to rotate futureDMD at this point. You are the first person that has asked so I wasn't sure there was a need for it, but you have now confirmed that there is. I won't promise you a date but if you follow the futureDMD download for updates, I will try to add rotation support as soon as I can.

Thanks

Is it possible to get the DMD where it really belongs ? On a real DMD instead of a third monitor ?

I believe this is possible with PinDMD or other apps.  Gauntletlover's solution is specifically for those of us who have third monitors.

PinDMD took care of this issue quite a long time ago.

OK, I copy all the files into the games/future pinball directory where my future pinball.exe file is.  I try to start futureDMD.exe but nothing happens. My main monitor is blue background, so I know I am not missing it.  Any suggestions?

Hi Verk, are you receiving any errors or pop-ups? Can you bring up task manager after you double click it and confirm wheather or not the futuredmd.exe process is there.

As soon as I remote control (RDP) my pincab-pc, the dmd-window ends up on screen 1 and it forgets its previous position, which in my case is on screen 3.

Any chance we could make the position permanent through the ini-file or something?
