Ali VP91x 1.3

Version: 1.3.0
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas

Description:
Based on the table Ali, made by Stern in 1980.
Thanks to Jolo for suggesting this table. To Leo for the backdrop and to the makers of the first table which I used the dipswitch subs (F6 gives you normal dip switches and F7 gives a more friendly dip configuration).

Update 1.1:
- fixed the spinner giving extra coins.
- reduced the size of the bumpers
- added the "triple claw", sort of smile.gif
- added some more rubber sounds

Update 1.2:
- Thanks to Leo for finding the manual for me, and now the spinner gives the right value. Giving the 2000 points with each rotation.

Update 1.3:
- Updated for VP91x with alpha transparency, new graphics and settings.

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Plays great, perhaps a bit faster then the real one only one thing I've noticed missing. The triple claw kicker, not something you would know about unless you played the original, though it was a bit of a unique feature on this machine.

Thanks JP.

I found a bug. Each time the spinner spins you get a credit up to the maximum of 10 credits.

Yes, I see the error in the spinner. I saw in the old table that the spinner was set to the switch number 1, so I did the same. But I didn't looked at the coin counter. I guess that the line 385 can be commented. Or better maybe someone with a manual could tell us which switch corresponds to the spinner?

Yes, Bob, big bumpers! smile.gif

The 3 top kickers have a single kicker mechanism which flicks the ball directly downward and it rotates the claw shaped kicker to eject the ball, so all 3 are connected and rise simultaneously. This could possibly be visually added using drop walls, I'll see if I can find a pic of it.

This is about the best pic I could find, it's not the best but maybe you can see what I'm talking about...

Thanks StevOz. I can try to simulate that with dropwalls.

About the spinner: just now the bes solution is to remove that line. There is a rollover target there to give you awards, so there is no need for the spinner code.

I'll make an update when I have those claws working smile.gif

JP

Edit: I have updated the table with the fixes (claw, spinner, bumpers, added some more rubber sounds)

I just wanted you to know that I have updated the table to version 1.2, now the spinner gives the right point2 (2000) with each spin, so it makes more atrractive to shoot for the spinner.

Thanks to Leo for finding the manual for me (I guess it came from Holland smile.gif )

Can you add the manual to IPDB.ORG? They do host Stern manuals.

This really is a wonderful table. The extra sounds (ball rolling, and hitting rubbers) really adds to the experience. The open playfield is really fast paced and shows off the physics of VP9. Awesome work JP!
