Okay that made a difference..
I didn't realize steam had to be already be open and running...
At the command prompt it seems to be running like it should.....

When you try to use pinballX it stops at the Allow Game Launch screen

It looks like we have Steam's attention on this. The latest per Valve admin. Thanks for reporting. There should be a fix for it in the next Steam Beta client.

The fix is working. Now I'm fighting with PinballX to either not drop back into the frontend after the wait time (even with -1!), or to not start a ball when I run as Admin.

My steam client is started together with Windows, so I do not have this problem.

Great !

When you try to use pinballX it stops at the Allow Game Launch screen

I guess, the waiting time for the confirmation dialog is too short for your system. You could modify line 24 in the AHK script:

From: WinWait, %confWinTitle%,,2 to WinWait, %confWinTitle%,,10 (from 2 sec to 10 sec waiting)

But, (thanks SirTodd and jferio) this whole thing is now obsolete !

If the Steam fix works, delete my workaround and enjoy PBFX2 again  :otvclap:

@GInsonic, are you saying it will be obsolete, or that a fix has been issued and it is now obsolete?

I'm just adding code to DOFLinx, probably similar to what you've done, to acknowledge the window when it pops - very happy to stop and not be testing that!

I did not test it by myself yet (it is quite early here), but according to jferio (see two postings above) the fix works ! I can confirm, when I tested it by myself !

I read that as being, your fix works for him, not a Steam fix.

It is a Steam fix and I can confirm, that it works ! You have to opt in the Steam client beta version, then it is updated with the new beta.

Indeed, it is a bit ambigous, I read it again ;)

I also have success with the new Steam Beta reverting back to no prompt window.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be ambiguous. Specifically, Valve's fix is working just fine for me.

Working again! Like Ginsonic said you will have to opt in to a client beta install in Settings. Steam will restart and download a 60meg file and install.

Hi,

I'm having this problem in 2020... guess something went wrong with the Steam client...

Is anyone else having this issue, or is there a proper fix?

Thanks

Replying to myself:

This only happens if I try to run the Pinball FX3.exe.

If I run the game using Steam.exe it works without any issues.

Cheers

Yeah, I noticed that PinUp Popper actually recommends using the Steam.exe launch method, probably for very similar reasons.
