UltraVPServer

Version: 0.6.8
Category: Frontends and Addons

Author(s): Manofwar

Description:
UltraVPServer to create rom controlled 'Active Backglasses'
Exactly one month after the release of Flying Dutchman's 'Backglass Paradise' ..

I'm proud to present and release the 'Active Backglass' - rom controlled solution developed by Manofwar! UltraVPServer!!

All is based on the UltraVPServer.exe which loads the Static Backglass.png, and sits in between the .uvp file (where the lamps/lights are positioned)
and gets controlled by the table rom.

All resulting in a Full Sized 'Active Backglass' as you would see in real life playing a real Pinball Table.

Attached is a 'Starters-Pack' also including a short 'tutorial' on what-to-change-where in the Table Script and also a 'tutorial' on creation of the actual .uvp file with
the UltraVP Editor. Just follow it and you should be ok. wink.gif

As a bonus there's already some created .uvp files and Backglass images you can use 'out-of-the-box' - Elvira & The Party Monsters, Flash Gordon and Xenon done by StrangeLeo (Thanks!).

v0.6.3 is the first version to be released officially and has no stuggering effect (or almost no effect) during gameplay also during multiball.
The Backglasses are automatically stretched which will be an option in the next release whether you want this or not.
Please make sure you have a 'capable' graph-card available in your system to avoid issues.

Enhancements planned for the next release: support for animations. Also 'Online VP' would be a possible feature.

Thanks again to Manofwar for his exellent work and patience on guiding me in getting acquainted with this FanTasTic piece of software and to involve me in this Project for testing purposes and for putting the little tutorial in place.

It can be used with or without the unbeatable HyperPin Frontend by BadBoyBill ..

Needless to say that all .uvp files will be available as well at the Flying Dutchman's 'Backglass Paradise' where you can also find the Static Backglasses to be
used as a 'base' for creating UVP Backglasses!

Enjoy it .. I do! wink.gif

Cheers,
FD.

Hi manofwar,

Having problems with sound...

Somehow VPserver interferes with VPM...

Already set sound = 1 ....

But some tables have no sound at all...

Any fix to this...
Using Windows 7...

Can you make VPserver compatible with Windows 7

Thanks

Rossi

Hiya FD, Since 0.6.8 is available, perhaps you could update the version here with that file? Thanks!

Flying Dutchman, I downloaded new version, I can get the uvp server to work all except the location for DMD. I followed instructions in readme file however does not move or rotate dmd as instructions say when adding to Hyperpin ini file. Does anyone have this working I have my glass in vertical mode just like BBB in his cabinet. Can someone help?

Thanks,
Lonnie

You should be able to drag the dmd to the backglass using the cursor. Then right click on the dmd and select "show window border", and drag the corners to change the size.

FD, I was refering to read.me file in UVP 6.8 it show how to add to Hyperpin Ini commands for the DMD. This would be easier to use but can not get it to work. I know about the rol and ror but was looking at this since it could be easier and I would not need to change for each table.

Manowar can you help?

Thanks,
Lonnie

How do you re-size a UVP? I've changed the size of the image for the backglass, but it does not appear to use the larger image when UVP is active. My backglass monitor is 720p (1360x768). It appears that UVP images are about 1360x600 so there is a bit of black below the UVP backglass image.

How would I go about making sure that all my UVP's are at the same resolution as my backglass screen?

Is it possible to have this program send a command to another program whenever something happens in game?

I.e. when a pop bumper is hit, could this program send a command to another program, or even directly to the paralelle port, so that it will trigger an LED WIZ or something?

We could then have lights and solenoid control from directly within UVP

this would be a killer feature for all cabinet builders!
