File Name: Attack from Mars V.1.0 VPX DT/FS - Groni Pinball

File Submitter: GRONI

File Submitted: 24 Jan 2016

File Category: VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): Groni Pinball
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1995
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Here is my first VPX Release.

Attack from Mars / 1995 Bally

This Version features the Desktop Version and also the Fullscreen/Cab Version.

Features:

1. Builded with a real AFM Machine next to me
2. Mechanical sounds recorded from the AFM Machine
3. Authentic Physics allowing most kinds of tricks you can perform on a real machine.
4. Aliens based on JP´s Release with modification on the arms so they shake.
5. Working "Dirty Pool"
6. DOF/B2S Support added by Arngrim
7. Real Mainsaucer behavior based on the script by JP with some finetune in movement
8. All Primitives with exept of the standard objects and the aliens are modeled by me.

Credits:

Thanks to JP for helping me to find solutions for the "Dirty Pool" and other Scripting Problems!!
Thanks to Arngrim for adding the DOF/B2S Feature to the table!!
Thanks to Martin for his AFM Machine I used to build up this table!!

And of course a special thanks to you all for positive feedback and support!!

Important!
The viewing angels I choosed are the one that I prefer to play with. I guess many or most users prefer other settings.
Since VPX this is no longer a problem. Just select "Table - Camera /Light Mode" in the editor and you can easily make
a camera setup to your liking in seconds. Same deal with the lightning. If you want to change the lightning of the table
just use the Lightningslider in the playfield menu.

If you play on a cab and want to remove the metalrails, just open script editor and in the "Table Components" Dropdown
select the very first entry "1. Rails" and delete it.

Modding this table is allowed after 3 Month and with approval from me.

Have fun with another Attack from Mars release :)

if anyone else likes to get rid of the euro cards, I converted the instruction cards from JPs table.

simply import the images  into the table over the existing ones.

Groni - Wow! This table is really something. So many things I love about it:

* The layout perspective: I like the way both you and flupper1 (who did a recent "shiny mod" for Dirty Harry VP10) choose to have the cab version of the tables angle in toward kind of a vanishing point toward the top of the screen. I wouldn't have guessed that would add to the realism, but it really does.

* The physics! These are the most realistically tuned physics for VP10 so far, in my opinion. I like the amount of bounce the ball gets off objects. The backspin, while present, doesn't get out of control and "bite" into the rubbers or take odd horizontal arcs. The ball has to "settle in" to tight areas between posts - nice effect of your tuning! The flippers are really great, too! I can come close to a live catch (I'm not good at this on real pinball), and do tap and post passes. Really realistic feeling. I hoping to be able to export your physics set and map it onto other tables, but so far I get a really floaty affect when I try this. Maybe I need to export your global settings too?

* Great sounds - I especially like the sound of the ball sliding down wire ramps. The flipper sounds seem unique too.

* Realistic lighting / sharply drawn images.

Thanks so much, Groni. Hours of fun! Can't wait for your future releases. You devs are really hitting it out of the park with VP10.

:)

Would you consider tuning the physics with the proper table dimensions? I'd be happy to rescale it for you. A physics set designed for irregular ballsize is the most unicorn physics set of all.

Very beautiful and good playing table! Thank you very much for that piece of art.

only little suggestions ;)

- Knocker sound is missing

- lock lane seems to be extremly hard to target at

- flippers seem to be a very little too weak

But these are just toppings on the cake

greets,

Dom

I tried it this morning....and the physics is probably the best i've tried.
I did play around with the slope abit...and lowered it some....but that doesn't have anything whit the physics to do....so very well done! :)

They are even a litte to strong. ;) You can do any shot easily with it. I matched them with the AFM Machine I had here. But I had to make them a little stronger, cause some other physic parts didn´t worked well with lower settings.
