File Name: America's Most Haunted

File Submitter: Shoopity

File Submitted: 20 Aug 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Recreations

Author(s): Shoopity
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 2014
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

*** 09/23/15 ***
Added SlingShot animation
Added some very basic GI lighting effects on the playfield (nothing special, but better than nothing).
Since the forum crash, I've removed all previous versions. Just download the most recent version.
*******************

*** Sometime ***
Added the use of the menu via the flippers; open the coin door, push start to go into menu mode, then either select Mouse interface or Flipper interface.

***08/27/15 Update****
See Change Log
Biggest change is High Scores now work... unless someone tells me otherwise
Currently no way to reset the high scores other than using the Visual Pinball Save File Editor (hey, you gotta leave something for the next update, right? ;-) )

You don't need to download the new table.  Just download the "AMH VP9 Table v1.2, Cod ver 20" and copy/paste the text into the table's script. (hey, it saves you from another 100 meg download, right?)

Don't forget the Options menu.  During the attract mode of the game:

  • Open the coin door (or push the End key on yourkeyboard)
  • Cycle through the menus with 8 and 9 keys
  • Open the menu dialog box with the 0 key (kind of like a Williams game)
You will need a mouse to make the selections.
If you're savvy enough, you can just download the code file and replace the script; HOWEVER, for version 1.1 you will be missing out on three thunder sound FX if you don't download the table.

Here it is, finally and officially.
This is Spooky Pinball's/Ben Heck's: America's Most Haunted.

1. Download the v1.zip table, unzip and place in your Visual Pinball\Tables folder
2. Download the GIF pack and place the folder in your Visual Pinball\Tables folder (dir should remain named America's Most Haunted.UltraDMD)
3. Download the Music pack and extract it to Visual Pinball\Music
4. Download UltraDMD here.  Follow the instructions on that page, including the XDMD downloads, but you don't need the scene builder or test table.

UltraDMD is NOT required, however I don't see the point in playing this table with no animations or score.  If you're not going to use UltraDMD, I don't think you need the gifs.  But, you will need the music.  Make sure you place the mp3s in a folder called "Music" where you have your VP.exe (e.g. C:\program files\visual pinball\Music).

You can download UltraDMD here.  Follow the instructions on that page.

If you have problems getting UDMD to work, many have said this post really helped them.

Huge thanks to Ben Heck who allowed me and sent every single stinkin' piece of data that was in any way shape or form related to this table.  Thanks to freneticamnesic for his work on the VPX version and allowing me to port his amazing artwork back to the VP9 version.  Thanks to Arngrim for his DOF entries (unfortunately, unbeknowst to him, the table currently doesn't have all the work he put into the VPX version :-(; I will work on putting them in and provide an update).  Thanks to everyone who helped me troubleshoot this table in the WIP thread.  Forgive me for anyone I forgot to thank, it's not, I'm just very forgetful.

I'm holding out for the final VP10 release. But... This is really tempting!

Updated to v1.1

You can download just the code if you want, but there's three Thunder Sound FX in the new table.

As I've said in multiple places, you can make it Cabinet ready by changing the Backdrop settings to what you like.  You can change them to:

12
45
60
270
1.35
1.9
1
-335
200
0

If you're unwilling/able to make the changes yourself, then yes, you'll have to wait.

Hey kiddies, just as a teaser, I'm working on High Scores.

That's right, pretty soon you'll be able to enter your initials and have the game save the scores.

I've got the mechanism in place, now I just need a place/way to actually display those high scores (without having to use the Visual Pinball Save File Editor of course).

OK, table version 1.2 is up.

High Scores now work.  You can view them during attract mode by using the flippers.  I know it ain't pretty, but it's better than nothing, right?

Attract DMD animation now knows if you're on Free Play or not (as set in the Options menu); and displays pushing Start or Insert Coin appropriately.

To exit viewing high scores, just wait about 11 seconds.

Left flipper now flicks if you fail to rescue your "friend" during Dr. Mode (just like the real machine).

You don't have to download the table, just download the script and copy/paste it into the V1.1 table (or even the V1.0, but then you're still missing the thunder sound effects).

I'm having an issue with the sound files. I downloaded all the .WAV files from the link to the Google Drive document. They are all extracted into the music folder.

When I start a game it's calling for a bgout_M2.mp3 file, but all of the files I downloaded all have a # in them, and end in .WAV like bgout_#m2.wav,

Do I have to go through and convert them all to .Mp3's, or does someone have a link to the proper music files?

I just noticed that the VP9 version is working properly with the music. The VP10 version is the one looking for all of the alternate .MP3 names for some reason. They aren't titled the same as the VP9 version. Odd...

*SOLVED* - User error. I saw the link to the VP10 table has the table, and the new music in separate files to download. I forgot to grab the new .MP3's. Geez. I need to go to bed. :)

OK, music is re-uploaded.  This is the BGOUT_ music, so either re-download the 1.4 version again (sorry), or just copy/paste the 1.4 code (there's a slight change to the MusicPlayer sub to properly play the new bgout_ music).

My fault, I didn't specify that I've uploaded the files, but they still need to be approved.  Just keep checking back until you see the Code Version 20 file.  At least I hope that's the problem.

I cant get it working. When loading, I get an error message, that UltraDMD isn´t working. I didn´t install - is it necessary?

I use 2 Monitors, and a PinDMD LED Screen.

Thanks,

HP
