Is it possible to have an unique image in the DMD display for each pin, for those pins that don't use the DMD.
I was thinking about have the wheelart logos displayed in the DMD.

Yes its possible, ive made a lot of custom dmd images for each game, u have to copy them to the dmd images folder and make sure the artwork has the same name as your table.

If u want them just let me know.

Awesome Slashbot! :D

Do you know it it is possible to have a fourth display aswell?
It would be nice tohave one of those ultrawide(half height) displays, as a topper display! :)

Yes! But for a dB2S-like system for reproducing the actual topper!

But that would be a whole other development process.

In my build, I'm just planning to stick a plasma up there. Sort of like the display in a Stern tournament system.

Carny_Priest...ofcourse a B2S like system would be nice, or have this topperdisplay option built in, in the B2S. :)

Slashbot...yes...collecting topper images is not a bad idea...lets do it, and do it for the future! :D

Will you upload you DMD images here, or in a dropbox?

Carny_Priest...do you have photos of your display on the top? :)

Sort of. Mameman produced a custom topper for me months and months ago, but I still have to do the install. I do have pictures of the test fit. The cabinet I purchased from VPCabs, but it was based on mameman's design so it was a very good fit. What's more is that the design also incorporates a five LED flasher bar and domes. Flasher bar, DMD, and wiring fit into the topper and closes up like a clam shell. You can sort of see that in the second image. Third image is the test fit with a display. Excellent fit! Greg exceeded all my expectations for the project.

I've since primed and painted, but that's about it. I've been focused solely on software (and real life) the last few months.

Now, this design is for a plasma DMD or LED replacement DMD - 128x32 pixel.

If we are talking about a B2S-like system for reproducing toppers, I'd say you'd want another 16:9 LED. For my cabinet, probably a 20" or 24".

Thats really nice! :D

Well..if i go for a topper someday, i will look for one of those stretched monitors i linked above....and hopefulle find a more cheap one!

Also...it have to be supported in either B2S or in PinballX as a static image, or maybe movie clip, that lives it own live! :)

To recreate something like the Fish Tales topper would require animation. And passing of event driven information from VPM. Those events may be emulated but if the topper activity relies on other switches apart from the playfield or backglass those switches may not have been dealt with by authors. After all, there has not been a need to deal with the topper.

Although I guess that depends on the table. DOF handles events where the original table topper might have had beacons, bells, or fans. It seems like a short step to include any other activity.

The relatively quick test would be a DB2S, shrink down the translite image to leave room at the top of the screen for a topper image, Fish Tales topper model, cloud topper for TAF, etc.

In fact, I could have sworn that somebody already did that for Dungeons & Dragons with its strobe topper. But I can't find it now.

I was thinking about have the wheelart logos displayed in the DMD.

This is exactly what I want to do also. However I want to display on a real DMD through pindmd2 and pinballx. I've managed to get a wheel graphic showing on the real dmd but it's not quite right and is showing in one brightness only. I tried the hyper pin utility that is supposed to convert normal graphics to pindmd format with the right shades but it wouldn't save the image?....

Has anyone already created a pack of wheel art images for use in pinballx for real DMD displays?

Are these for a real DMD Ark? and if so how can I obtain a copy of these? Thanks for any help you can offer.

No, they are images for if you use PinballX and a 3rd screen.  They are static images themed after each table that display when you navigate to the table in PinballX.  So they probably aren't what you are looking for, but they were uploaded to VP Forums by slashbot so you can get them here if you did want them.
