In the past I tried out FP. The tables were very nice but the physics just turned me off to it completely. Yes, I know you have to load the physics for each table or use the generic one it calls for.

However, now I am playing with FP/BAM VR on Oculus Rift and WOW. It looks like having the real table there.

However, there are some issues I need help fixing.

Some tables won't show in the table launcher but they do open and even play with a regular file open.

How to modify the launcher? Is there any benefit to the launcher vs file open?

Some tables give the Error about  FF_Init.

Did some reading and I'm told this is DOF related. I don't have a cab ATM and no flasher hardware etc.

I think I followed the guide right and copied all the files from the framework and the actual latest version of DOF to a folder called DirectOutput on C:.

I also made the plugin folder inside of VPin Mame and made the shortcut. Not sure that even matters for FP?

There is some ini files I need to configure for DOF I think but I don't understand how.

How do I make DOF work with FP and without any actual hardware. So I can play Tables that require DOF in BAM VR.

Buzzing noise.

Some tables make a loud buzzing noise. Also seems to cause The new Medieval Madness to malfunction.

Searching the web only says turn on V-Sync and it should be fixed. It is not. What to do please?

I hope someone can help. These tables look AMAZING in VR. So many config problems though.

Thanks.

Maybe Im wrong, but if u dont have the hardware u have to download another version of the same table without the DOF code.

The v-sync for the buzzing sound have to be disabled on the ingame graphic settings menu, not on your system or drivers software.

Yes, I tried it in the in game settings. I am starting to think it's a sound that plays only when the ball stops moving. Have to find it. Some of the new versions of the tables only seem to come with DOF built in. I was successfully able to De-DOF a simple one. It's a pain. Working on a much harder one now. We will see what happens.

HA!! I was right. At least in the case of Medieval Madness Mega. There is a sound called bonuspop. For what ever reason it just plays over and over when the ball is not moving. So I commented it out and buzzing sound is gone. I am starting to wonder if this was some sort of prank by the script writer. They could not have tested the table without this problem.

You can read my comments on your other posting.  I don't use DOF but there is a VSync option in the FP editor that I always keep checked.

I had a thought about that. Been reading up on FP physics lately. I read that the FPS number set in the physics file effects all the other settings because it effects the sample rate, so to speak. Which made me remember how slow and floaty the older tables were. I wonder if the FPS is set lower in older tables. Perhaps because PC's were not as fast back then? Going to look into it soon as well. Working 1 more night. If I can get the physics normalish, these tables look amazing in VR.

There is a parameter in XML files for FPS.  Most XML files have it set to 256 or 296. I don't change it.  I don't think it really has all that much effect on the physics as long as you don't set it too high and get stuttering.  The main parameters that affect game play are the ones for the ball, mass, gravity and damping.  If you want to make quick and dirty changes to physics, the easiest way is to change the table slope that is in the table editor.  I have created custom physics on quite a few tables.  The most popular table is this one:

For other tables that use the original physics, Malifica created a general purpose XML that works for most tables.  You can get here:

To play any of the DOFLinx modded tables without using DOFLinx....you can always just download the newest DOFLinx, and just copy the DOFLinx.vbs file to your "Future Pinball \ Scripts" folder. Now you can play any of those tables.

Note, that those tables will have the DMD,etc moved off screen as they were intended for cabinet use. You can always use the FP editor to move them back.
