Would VP9 support a 90 degree slope with a piece of glass a few cm from the playfield and tiny balls for a pachinko game?

If so, I'd like to make one.

And if it works well.... Virtual pachinko cabs anyone? smile.gif

Edit: Answered my own question... I got 90 slope, '0' inclnation, and '0' field of view... Now to create a mechanism strong enough to hit the ball up a rounded ramp to the top... And make the balls alot smaller...

Any help is appreciated here, as I am going to go ahead and see what I can do. Has this been tried before?

Edit 2: Imagine a virtual pachinko cabinet that intakes and spits out real pachinko balls. As they enter the machine, they are turned into a virtual ball on the screen.

Oh thats awesome! Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I am downloading it and going to check it out now. Thanks Bob5453!

Edit: Looks great! I am getting a script error when the ball goes down the hole, but I will reserch this further and see what I can come up with.

Ah.. hey Bob. I am getting an assortment of errors. Any time the ball goes into a hole.. eg... (line 199 null) . The line is .. Drain2.DestroyBall

I am playing it with VP 8.1 .. Is that compatible?

Very nice job from what I can see. Do you mind if I poke around at your table to help me with something new I would like to make? I see the scripting woud be very helpful.

EDIT **** Sh%t... Real sorry to waste your time on that one.. I wasn't running vp 8.1 as admin. Works now!

Edit #2. smile.gif Wow Bob.. This is amazing! Exactly what I was looking for.. I am starting to draw up my plans for a cabinet. smile.gif (Can you buy laser counters that would open and close a physical switch?)

I just tried it with VP8.1 and it worked fine here.... It just looked weird on a widescreen monitor. Maybe I should make it a FS game. smile.gif

You are welcome to use anything from that table, copy and paste or you can use it as a starter table if you want.

I used to own a pachinko machine when I was a kid. Our rich uncle gave it to us as a random Christmas present. I swear, that was the loudest damn game I've ever owned. It actually hurt my ears to play it.

Oh man! Incredible offer.. Thanks SO much! This will be my way in for learning VP as well! So excited.. smile.gif

I have a real pachinko here. I was thinking of using some of the parts from it to make a physical/virtual hybrid.

I bought that Pachinko game at a garage sale for 15 dollars, it had about 200 real pachinko balls with it (etched with designs) I then bought 1000 ball bearings of the same size to use with it. My kids and their friends played the crap out of it over the years.

The characters in the middle sort of dance when you score a ball, I was going to add that, but there's not much interest in non-pinball games.

Is your pachinko game one of those new ones with the full color video LCD display?

Well I am interested. smile.gif

My dad came home with the pachinko I have about 25 years ago. It hd alot of use over the years, but there are broken parts in the back, and it is just collecting dust. I think I can make some more use out of it now.. smile.gif

Could VP be programmed to communicate with a physical ball dispenser? For the intake, it would be fairly simple.. The ball would pass a light, or laser or physical switch and flip a switch on an ipac to create a keypress and create the ball on screen.

The plunger and win dispenser are where I am lost for now...

Nah.. Its an old one from the early 80's. Purely mechanical. It is a very cool device, and I really am kind of cringing thinking about taking it apart. But it only has sentimental value. I will study the software end first.. and if plausible, then build the cabinet.

I am tempted to buy one of those newer machines to read out the roms and try to get them working, because I've never seen a real one with video in action before. Now I've seen it on Youtube. smile.gif heh

Something like this would be cool to have in VPM -

Brian, here is a pachinko forums.

MrFixx is a member there and I think you could easily get someone to read some Roms.

Thanks Bob!
As for how there were playing it, I'm not sure - we never saw his hands in the video but I'd guess he wasn't nudging the machine because he was holding the video camera. The pachinko balls were going around the sides of the LCD display and he was activating the spinning numbers by getting them into the hole at the bottom middle of the LCD. I didn't mean to derail your thread Rawd. There are a few pachinko machines for Future Pinball too by Tiltjlp.

Will VP need some coding work to handle lots of small balls?

I don't suppose you could link me to one of those tables? I would be curious to see how he enabled the slope (FP only goes to 10 I think?), and how he adjusted the size of the ball.

Bobs table for VP8 seems to work perfectly!

My machine at home is more like this one.. (but mine is multi-shot)...

Ya, I have BallyHoo. Not quite the same thing. I don't think FP can create a 90 slope.

I am going to look at emulating some of the older no-rom machines. If you can figure out how to run the roms from the newer ones, maybe we could get a good thing going here! Originals would be great too. I personally don't really care if other people are interested in this, I love the idea. smile.gif

Just checked out Bob's creation and I think its awesome!...

Would be great if a series of these could be created for vp9.... dblthumb.gif

What would be *really* cool is to be able to play them on my cab backglass and run them from hyperpin. The younger kids would love it.... hell, I just blew 30 minutes on it myself!....

Great work!
