Hi All,

I just migrated over to VP9 from VP8.  When I am playing VP9 and hit 'esc', it brings up a menu that says Resume, Debug window, or Quit to editor.  In VP8, it had another option which was 'exit'.  How do I get that additional option of 'exit'?

Or, is there some sort of switch when launching a game through a FE that makes the escape key to just exit VP altogether instead of having to quit to editor and then close out visual pinball?  Would be nice if you could have a button that would bring up a yes/no dialog box that says "are you sure you want to exit".

Thanks,

Dean

I must not be explaining myself well enough  -  Let me try again.

I am using VP9 and PinballX as a front end.  Once a table is launched, I have a button on my cabinet programmed to be 'esc' to exit the pinball.  I don't want it to exit automatically in case it is accidentally hit, but it would be nice if I could bring up a window that says, "are you sure you want to quit?" or something like that.  What currently happens, is a window pops up that gives me the option to resume, debug, or "quit to editor".  When I click "quit to editor", it obviously opens the editor and then I have to close the pinball editor to get back to my front end.  This doesn't make for a smooth experience for someone using it.  Is there a way to set it in some sort of mode that I can bypass the "quit to editor" option and instead have an "exit" option?  Sorry if my original post was confusing.

Thanks,

Dean

If you keep ESC mapped as the exit button.  Open Visual Pinball.  go to Preferences->Keys and click on "Disable ESC key".   This will allow PinballX to act on the ESC key and not VP.

Setting up PinballX, if I remember correctly

If you want to only exit table when confirmed, Run PinballX settings.exe, go to Keyboard Input Settings and set Pause/In Game to the ESC key.  Pressing ESC will bring up a menu which will allow you to exit the table

If you want to exit table immediately, Run PinballX settings.exe, go to Keyboard Input Settings and set Exit Emulator to the ESC key instead of setting up the Pause/In Game item.

Hello,

I have a question regarding this issue. I would like to map the "exit" (without pop up) table, but using a button instead of a keyboard key.

Is it possible?

Thank you.

Pitou!

Just found out how to do it. Problem is that I was mapping the "Quit" item instead of the "Exit emulator" item in PinballX config.

Problem solved :)

Hey, can someone help me out a bit: I'm trying to make my VisualPinballX tables quit to desktop when I press ESC or Q but I get is a small window with options to Resume, Debug window, or Quit to editor. I disabled the ESC -key from VisualPinball preferences as instructed above, but after that I'm clueless what to do. Any tips? Thanks! :)

I think if you hold down the Q button it exits fully.
