File Name: JP's Indiana Jones (Stern 2008)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 01 Apr 2021

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 2008
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

This table is only playable with VPX 10.7. Use the latest beta.

Playfield and plastics redrawn by me. I didn't like the yellowish color so I made it more orange :)

Some primitives from Fren's VP9 table: The skillshot sign, the sankara mesh, the skull mesh and the Ark lid.

Thanks to STAT for suggesting and testing this table, and Thalamus also for testing it.

Download the ROM from Stern site,  zip it, and call it ij4_210.zip.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

I was in luck to test the preview too. Honestly i were never a big fan of Stern's Indiana Jones. But JP's version changed that in no time. Jp's redraws make this pinball so much enjoyable, and the orangish colors add so much to the table. Perfect example when the VPX version looks/feels better than the original machine(for me!) Thank you so much for this masterpice! I played a lot already with the WIP (only table which i play under 10.7 with Knorr's fantastic Starship troopers) but i'm sure with the final version i will play even more!

At the Stern site there are some different ROMS in different languages: Indiana Jones – Stern Pinball

I guess it is a matter of downloading the ROM in the language you want and change the name of the zip to the right vpinmame name.

I guess you can get those language roms with the right zip names at vpuniverse.

Then you need to change the rom name in the script. Just find Const cGameName = "ij4_210" and change the name of the rom.

Thats what I tried, ROMs are available at stern , too. but did not work. If you unzip the roms, the different language files have also different names. Ill try again, maybe i did not shut down vpx 10.7 /deleting nvram inbetween...

Use setup.exe in combination with the test button to see what roms pinmame supports, and what name it expects to find inside the rom. If the crc is not the same, you might have to turn off the crc check in order for pinmame not to barf at you.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

UPDATE

4.0.0 Updated 2.10.2022
- Updated to my VPX7 physics
- cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
- Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
- Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
- Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
- Some small script updates, like the Rolling sound and PlaySoundAt routines.
- Made the light inserts warmer.

Great table. love playing it.

however, inserting coin at the beginning of the game made the knocker goes off 3 times every time a coin button is pressed. Is there anywhere in the script that I can change that? else, do i have to go into table config in DOF config and kill the knocker? it is quite annoying.

thanks!

UPDATE

5.0.0 Updated 31.08.2023
- Updated for VPX8, including new Rev 3 physics for objects, playfield and flippers, removed realtimer and displaytimer, removed fading lights routine, animated objects using internal VPX8 animate, updated LUT with 10 shades and also 10 warmer shades, changed the lights and linked flashers to lights, changed the lights and flashers to be brighter, and added a 3D playfield mesh with the holes.

This is another VPX8 update. The table will look more or less the same as before, because of many of the changes are in the script, although there are new flashers and lights. But it should play better due to the new flippers physics.
