File Name: Chance (Playmatic 1971)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 10 Aug 2019

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
akiles50000
Loserman76
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1971
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Based on the Spanish table by Playmatic from 1971

Graphics by akiles50000.
B2S by Loserman76
And thanks to kiwi for testing the table and to Jose Navarro for the explanations on the working and rules of the table.

What was special in this table was the backglass wheel, which kept rotating during all the game. When you hit one of the 2 holes it will score what the wheel arrow is pointing at. The mystery will give you either a credit or 100, 200 or 300 points.

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

That pin it,s very special because doesn,t exist here in Spain none working and now it can play in it with the same original rules of game thanks to a friend me that played much in a real pin when he was young and remember all rules game after de fourty eight years.

Also to vectorize all graphics has been very hard  because only I had a picture of flyer and four pictures of pin with very bad resolution.

Enjoy it!!

What you told me now Akilles is maybe the coolest thing of all with this table. To know that you guys have "saved" if from going extinct, to live on as virtual is something that warms my hearth. I only wish we where able to save any table they way that you guys just did ! Thank you so much !

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Thanks for this super rare table! Of course also thanks to LM for the BG and Akiles for the Graphics - and to the friend who remembered the game rules after all this years!

UPDATE

4.0.0 Updated 18.9.2022
- Updated to my VPX7 physics
- cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
- Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
- Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
- Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows and the metals.
- Some small changes here and there
- Made the light inserts warmer.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

Thank's JP for your new physics v4 and new sounds!

that's really cool!

I noticed bug on the chance table.

When the ball reach the center of one of the left or right slingshot, the ball move from left to right at the infinite.

Hi JP,

can you please reveal the magic you do in your tables which make them sooooo much smaller. I mean we see other tables going up to 10 times the size of your's.

Do you have any hints stored somewhere how to save all this space? (I am not a table maker (yet))

cheers

WebP compressed image format for graphics (and no images in the table at obscene resolutions like 8k and 14k)
OGG audio container for larger audio files
And JP makes minimal use of externally imported models, he uses internal VP assets whenever possible.

Refraining from using 30 different images for plastics, when one single playfield sized image does the same job
Keep DMD assets no larger than 2X DMD size (so 256x64) if table contains an author created DMD
Keep DMD simple and to the point.

At least that is mostly what i steal from JP
except damned if i can behave on the DMD part, yet.

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i dont have any way to receive it anyways

If you really want to get rid of money you can donate to this

I couldn't have said it better :) Yes, that's what I do.

The images in webp format are at 95% which makes them of very high quality and you can almost do not see any difference from PNG, you have to really zoom inn to spot the differences.

The mechanical sounds are still in WAV uncompressed format, but extra game sounds and music are in OGG format.
