What if the community made a free "easy" button to getting tables and assets? Would that be ok?
We already do
How much easier does one want beside come and visit the downloads sections
and pick an alphabet letter?
And they wont be 16 versions ago bugs and bad scripts versions
If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways
Spend it on Hookers and Blow

(...) frankly it is hypocritical given the table creators are basing their work on unlicensed intellectual property of the pinball vendors (I fully support the hypocrisy so don't jump on me).
But still... The creators are the one who make our hobby alive, they spend days/months on "crafting" a table on their spare time with no reward except satisfaction that people visit the website where they host their tables and sometimes send a congratulation message. What is the point to disgusting them? It is destructing.

Shocking. Terrible news. Thinking of all the great tables I failed to download, naively assuming I had all the time in the world. Thanks so much for all the fun, Randr. Much respect and appreciation, sir. Keep in touch!
I know there's a million reasons this sucks but the main one that's got me regretting not being vigilant about downloading is looserman just put out like 8 tables today I wanted to check out this weekend.. I browsed them just a few hours ago ![]()
Also hoping this is temporary. *goes to back-up hard drive*
Just today I spent a few hours cleaning up hard rives and installing a new 2TB SSD just for pinball stuff.. was going to do a download binge tomorrow.. I found my huge archive but that hasnt been updated sense 2018ish..
And on a side note- I get that people making money from from this sucks and other aspects can be more then infuriating.. but doesn't shutting down a major venue for content make these hard drive sellers product even more valuable if they keep them up to date?.. just something to think about..
I'm just going to set this here and go get a cup of coffee.. DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!!

It's a terrible news
. So to prevent from those "ready to play pack", i have an idea. But it need all creator to make this together. Those guy who make these pack just put our table on the pack without making setup of it.
Here my idea to prevent that:
The idea is to delete all of our recently table from active creator ( from the last 1 year / 2 years ? ), and re-upload them with an unplayable POV. The good value for POV could be indicated in the script and need to be setup manually in editor table option. Also, now it could be great to not put the rom name directly in script. More table need to be configurated for a big pack, more borring it could be for them to do this.
After that, the bad guys who make these crappy pack, need to take lot and lot of time to setup each POV for each table and put the rom name on script.

No it’s not. It’s about the FB groups, the guys selling cabs and all the people who just came there to take and never gave back. Go read all the threads at the FB pinball cab builders site. They are all saying how selfish randr is, how he isn’t involved with the community and how he hasn’t updated VPB in years.....

@wiesshund its not that easy. I'm a software engineering professional and I still get stuck on a table from time to time. Making sure I have the most recent version of a table, check whether its a mod and if it is whether it is a good one, what directb2s file it should go with if one wasn't provided, oh is there a newer one? oh why does an extra alpha numeric display show up on the backglass.... why do I get two dmds.... why do I get no dmd.... why can't I hear anything.... why does it crash to desktop when starting just this one table.... how to i make the table fit my cabinet better, how do i change options in the table, how does ultradmd work, what happened to my sound again....why is the playfield so stupidly dark, can I keep two versions of this table.... where do i get the music for this table... oh have to rename 20 music files.... its just one damn thing after another. I don't mind, its part of the hobby and getting to know the system. But many people would like to go to a site/program get a list of tables, enter their cabinet/configuration (fss, cabinet, 2 screen, 3 screen, front end, etc) and get an installable package that installs with a press of a button and then enjoy playing pinball. Failing that they take the table pack they can find and do their best with it, or if they bought a cabinet that matches that pack then it just works. It's hard to blame them. The table pack on its own doesn't really help much as you still have to fiddle with the damn things for your own configuration. If my wife wanted to play this on her PC she would give up in 10 minutes and just take whatever pinball fx gives her. That keeps the hobby an exclusive club somewhat under the radar (less so now than in years past) but its a problem that someone is going to fix with or without the blessing of the community. Perhaps it would be better if the solution was made by the community instead.
I'm happy with things as is. I'm just being devil's advocate a bit.

Your point of view is defended. Starting from this idea, it would then be necessary to make an "official" pack coming from the actors of the scene with the tables authorized by the creators. Like a Vpforum official pack, or Vpu Official pack etc etc .. Or a Community Official pack (From VPf, VpU and VP.com). Only downloadable on those website

I have no idea what the content of the different FB groups gossip is but I'm more then happy to blame something on FB! ![]()
... I didnt say anything but I was already blamin FB(partially) lol ..
not for gossip but FB is about as mainstream as you can get and once the normies start unloading from the short bus by the thousands the party is going to get real dumb real quick
.. then throw in the type of person who is looking for ANY reason to be a white night and "Alert the proper authorities" will eventually get the intellectual property owners attention and let them know just how bad we VP-ers are for using their IPs..
idk FB just sucks
lol
