I have updated the table fixing the lock (I forgot about an extra switch that needed to be activated for it to work).

I've always wanted to ask about that one. I never really knew what that incident was about - but I guess it's along the same lines of what JP did here.

I also believe we've had the discussion about "is this allowed to be done" before - this table is a bit older.

I don't think we care much anymore. I mean sure PinMAMEDev would prefer if the rom was used in a representation of the real machine, but it can't be enforced. If you want to use roms in original layouts with script using vpm, or use a different romset in an existing table - ie Stern Ali in Bally Medusa or something, go ahead. It's your time to spend, and vpm is open source. For this case there is no rom solution for anyone to play this layout, so personally I don't mind so much at all - but there was also that fast draw using el dorado, and a few others.

I don't care either.

Phoenixx never seemed the same though after his hassle.

I gave the table a 10 rating at PN while this site was down.

Phoennix wasn't ever the same after him and PD yelled at each other about the playfield lights not being true white, or tinted white either. I wouldn't think this romset debate was any worse than that one was. Or the arguments about the easy install kits. A lot of things could easily get under his skin. If you're saying that anyone allowing this table to be uploaded might make a difference to Phoenixx now - it didn't make a difference with the El Dorado mod, and this won't make any difference either. sad.gif

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly using El Dorado City of Gold romset. Looks decent.

No. I was just wondering. I'm not against any artistic licence. I had an idea that it would not matter so much anymore.

I don't think I was involved in the light color argument. It must have been when I was laid up or banned. I can't imaging keeping quite over that. I don't know who was saying what, but the one that said white lights are not white enough when off would have had my ax, and my bow.

The rom issue was probably not as heated, but it was more personal. Good rules are timeless. But it's good that bad ones are not.

Just a note to let you know I have updated the table. Now this FS version also contains higher resolution graphics (also it has some bug fixes, new ufo, the new set of sounds and some adjustments to the table slope and flippers, similar to my latest tables).

You may have noticed that my latest tables have flippers with the settings similar to what Pacdude made for the older VP. I found out that I didn't have as much control over the ball when the flippers are too speedy, even reducing the strength very much. So by using PD's settings for the speed and increasing the strength according to the new slopes and ball weight I feel I have a better shooting angle for both strait up and side shots. Also it is easier to change lanes and do other tricks with the ball. With the speedy flippers wasn't so easy to pass the ball from one flipper to another since. Well, here I'm talking, "the expert in pinball", hahahaha.

JP
