These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Hi JPSalas,

i played your old v5.3 version for VP8 now and this version runs more slowly as your new VP 9 version. I think the new version is to fast, round about 50 % as your VP8 version.

@bolt: if you take a look at this video you'll see that the table is actually quite fast. But you can always reduce both table slope values (min and max). You do this in the editor. I used 6,5 for both min and max values. try reducing these two values until you find the speed you prefer.

@gordon: yeah, the flippers are always a problem smile.gif Either you make the table damm easy to play or hard to play. I like them like they are. I know it is hard to make some shots, but pinball shouldn't be easy smile.gif

@Hanson2: The Flintstones will have to wait.

I played a few games comparing VP8 and the new VP9 and found it no more frustrating or difficult with a little extra speed. I think the new version looks sharper with the lighting and details, seems a bit more fun to play. Thanks for the new table JP, more of a RBION fan now than ever, this really rocks.

JP, as well as Bolt, at the beginning I found it a bit too fast, maybe in some ramps. Can I give an opinion about physics?
I think something is missing… like to feel the weight of the ball... and bounce of the ball. I tried to do this by physical changing on the table and flipers. I feel the hits on the ball a little dry... difficult to explain (It's seems to me like hitting a ping-pong ball rather than a steel ball). JP, not wanting to compare your work with Groni’s work, because you two are sensational creators in their own style, and you know I’m your fan. Just to try to express what I'm saying... but I think the Groni’s tables physics describe more or less what I'm explaining above... on his tables there is a weight on the ball and a pseudo randomness that makes the table quite challenging and in my opinion more close to real physics. Maybe the sounds of the ball that he puts also helps. Anyone agree or not?

QUOTE (jpsalas @ Oct 31 2009, 04:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ripley's Believe It or Not VP9

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas

Description:
Based on the Stern table from 2004
Just in time for Halloween here it is a complete redone of my VP8 table. Nearly everything is new, only playfield and plastics graphics are the same, but he lights are new. I have used some new posts inspired on the pictures plublished by Eala Dubh Sidhe and Lord Hiryu. They are so small so it doesn't matter that much if they aren't so detailed.

It is angle independent, so it will be easy for you to change the view, reotate it, remove the DMD box, etc.

I should like to thank Leo for the backdrop, destruk and Steve for the music and sound subs.

The table uses samples (which I forgot when I started this table so I had to extract them from the rom, I know I could have ask destruk for the samples, but "why to do it the easy way when you can make it complicated?" smile.gif As I was saying: the table uses sample for the rom sounds. This means that all sounds are played by VP and they are not emulated, increasing the speed of the table, and this is good for older computers. I tried the table without the samples and it worked fine with my computer, pero the sound where more distorted. So I opted to use samples. This has two bad things: you cannot change the volume of the ROM and if you change the ROM the spoken language will still be in English, due to the samples. The good thing: the clarity of the sounds and the increase speed of the table. Multiball runs at full speed!

I tried to keep the table as simple as posible so the view of the playfield is as clear as posible. I tried using transparent ramps, but they didn't look very good. So I used the old style with a normal picture. The result is that the table looks just as good with HR ON as with HR OFF.

Have fun!
JP
