Harlem Globettroters on Tour VP91x 2.3

Version: 2.3.0
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas

Description:
Based on the table by Bally from 1979
This is again an angle free table, so just change the view the way you like, it is even easier to rotate since there are no high walls.

This month is the 30th anniversary of this table, man we are getting old smile.gif

I guess you all know this table better than me smile.gif
Have fun!
JP

-----------
Update 2.1:
- Added new bumpers.
- some small changes in the plastics.

Update 2.2:
- New graphics, mostly because of the FS versión needing better quality graphics.

Update 2.3
- Adjusted for VP91x and added alpha plastics.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Thanks for the beautiful memory.

The feel of the ball weight in this table is fantastic and the transparent reflection window on the ball works well. Love the subtle ball rolling sounds, I always think that audio tweeks such as that really add a lot to the ambience and realism of the table.

The apron graphic is perhaps a little pixelated but apart from that this is a beautiful table, many thanks JP.

I remember when I went to see the GlobeTrotters live and in person as a child. It was a really close game and the Generals almost beat them, but they pulled it out in the end for a very important win. I think they ended up going to the NBA playoffs that year after that win against the Generals!

rolleyes.gif Shall I assume that that is meant to be a facetious comment?...

As this was kayfabe basketball, it is uncertain how much, if any, of the upset story was an angle created to promote Globetrotters games. Both teams claimed that all their exhibitions were real, competitive contests.

Hehe, yeah ValamirCleaver I was indeed being facetious! Bonus points for using the perfect word! My mother is an English teacher at heart. So I am constantly being corrected and she is always busting out the dictionary. Sometimes it gets a little annoying.

Especially when I say 'I'll bring that to work tomorrow' and she's all like 'You can't bring it... but, you can take it!'
Been hearing that one for 15 years and I'll never learn, hehe.

On a thread related note... I've had the chance to play the table some and It's some good fun. Nice and colorful too! Another fabulous gift from JPSalas!

Thanks for this awesome release,JPsalas. cool.gif
I remember,that I've played this one many,many
years ago, when one unit was in my hometown. And at
the very first time I didn't beware the double flippers
on the left side.Balls went out one after one and I learned
my pinball lesson. laugh.gif

Another great job JP! Plays really smooth.

I have a question that I've tried googleing and come up nothing: I know that "KISS" and "Harlem Globetrotters" were created at around the same time, and when you start a game on "KISS" it plays "Sweet Georgia Brown" (at least I assume it is) which is the Harlem Globetrotters theme. But it doesn't play it on the "Harlem Globetrotters" table. Am I missing something?

Press F6 to get to the options and change the audio one. That's the first thing I noticed too.

OK, now I get the song when it starts (funny, I've been playing the old version for a while and never knew). But the follow up: why does KISS play it?
