File Name: Medieval-Madness-FOM (Flasher Object MOD) - JP Salas - Aaron James - Teppotee - Dozer316_1.3_DAY_NIGHT

File Submitter: Dozer316

File Submitted: 02 Mar 2014

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): JP Salas - Aaron James - Dozer316 - Teppotee.
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1997
ROM: Link to ROM
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

This is my first table contribution to the community so please be gentle :)

After seeing the new flashers included in the latest AFM beta from JP Salas, I thought I'd have a crack at modifying one of my favorite tables with these new flasher objects.

Because they allow 255 steps of progression from off to full bright they look a lot better (IMHO) than the traditional alpha ramp flashers which only support 4 levels from off to on.

Included in the archive are two versions of the same file.

One is designed for cabinets that have a flush mounted playfield monitor (flush) and one for the more traditional sunken playfield monitor.

The flush version contains side rails and a glass overlay (several of them) to give a greater impression of depth and flashers that are placed on the sidewalls, wireforms etc. to mimic the internal space of a cabinet.
The sunken version does not have side rails or the glass textures activated as the playfield is already under glass.  It does however include the side wall flashers and the same flasher outlay as the flush version.

This was put together with VP 9.2.1 - Rev 923 but also seems to work great in the latest dev DX9 version of VP.

Both versions of the table are currently configured with the profanity rom so if you are using a different version simply mod the entry in the script where vpinmame calls the associated rom.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it, if there are any bugs or feedback please do so in associated thread.  I'd also like to thank JP Salas for his awesome support with some of the scripting battles I came up against :) and for the original table. Also to Aaron James for doing the night mod that this is based on.

Dozer.

Awesome job! I really like the glass reflection  effect. Have you tried to rotate this? I think the glass reflection effect used in combination with rascal's hybrid view on a windows tablet could be pretty trick!......Nice job    :otvclap:

Thanks folks for the comments, much appreciated and I'm glad you're liking it.

Just posted v1.1 which changes the main 4 red flashers to straight red without the white overlay.

Nothing else has changed so if you're happy with the first version there's no need to download the update.

Cheers.

Dozer.

I haven't tried to rotate this one but I think I kept the flasher objects as close to the surface as possible based on some advice from Teppo.  You may find though that some of the flashers break if you try it.  It was intended for cabinet use only but in future mods I'll try to be mindful of making it desktop compatible as well.

Anyone else getting "streaks" in the lighting from where the ball went through?   I'm running 9.2.1 r930.

Funny thing is it seems to be perfect in the dx9 build.    Looks gorgeous!

I just tried that revision and it's looking ok for me here on a GTX 480.  Not sure what would be causing that.
