I am really glad people like these! I wish i could give them away but they do cost money to make here are some details:
 
A: Can do 1 or 2 ir leds on glasses with nearly 7 ' length of cable(1 led center mount works just fine and is my preferred method) with 2 leds mounted on left and right side a women's hair can block one                      or the other and some people with big heads can block led to opposite cam! believe it or not
B: can choose "belt" mounted battery pak or in coin door(2 coin door options real coin door or fake coin door)
C: metal framed glasses or plastic.. metal feels more solid but can be bent! plastic is bullet proof but is plastic
D: batteries included!! (4 AA) days of non stop use! 
 
The way i made these is when you plug headphone jack in its on! unplug and its off! No need to use on off switch but you could if glasses or cal board are left plugged in.
 
Currently kits are $106.33 with 2 modded ps3 cams, calibration board, glasses and battery pak.(coin door options require trade in coin door or bill acceptor plate)
 
Without the modded Ps3 cams kit is $58.33 you will get glasses, battery pak and calibration board.
 
If anyone wants to make their own i can help with providing some more information.
Glasses are from Menards and are $19.99 or so..Stanley safety glasses(plastic or metal) with lenses removed!

I'd be interested in a step-by-step for how you modified your PS3 cameras. I have a pair, but I haven't gotten around to doing the mod. What are you using for your IR filters? I've read people using exposed film or cutting the magnetic media out of a floppy disk and using that. 

 

For me, IR source will be this:

I sourced new in box or barely used cameras on Ebay for less than $15US a piece.

 

So the total solution is a little over $40US, so far. Of course, I have to do the work of soldering and I may break something modifying the camera or the head lamp. I haven't tried it yet. Aside from the cameras and head lamp, all the other parts are still on the slow boat from China.

 

Now, if I hadn't already ordered everything I'd be very interested in a plug-and-play solution to save myself a few steps.

Agreed on cams, I pay around $16.00-$18.00 bucks each and charge $6.00 to mod them.(is a trick to do mod and you need to take the suckers apart and re-assemble.. so takes some time) I leave mine decased and mount in speaker panel!

So $24.00 each cam modded you need two so $48.00 bucks

AGAIN i have a real job this is just an offering as i came up with a great design in my opinion I don't expect to make any money and if i do...I will donate it to RAV.

Pics of where i mount mine. DECASED. You want to mount cams so they just see lock bar in field of view, make sure you have cameras on wide angle notice "angle" they are a few degrees pointed up as to just catch lockbar in view. I have installed 5 machines this way and all work great.

Thanks for the pictures. Great idea about leaving the cameras decased. Saves some space.

 

What is the distance between the two cameras? I have a pinball 2000 style cabinet. The head is a little narrower than a standard or widebody backbox. The cameras would also be positioned closer to the player. 

I thought I did not have any floppy disks in the house. Threw out what I had many years ago, but I found this on a high shelf the other day:

A suitable sacrifice to get these cameras operating with BAM!

12" apart. I would say they could be up to 22" apart thing is you want each cam to overlap the other about 1/2 way. And just see lockbar very important. If you are tall over 6 feet you may need to sit and play as cams may not see top of your head if they mount to close to you. But I suppose you could just angle them higher and do 3 point calibration off lock bar couple inches.
Cool Microsoft arcade game! I have 1000's of floppys and some of my accounts still use them.

The oldest PC I own is around nine years old. No floppy drive. 

 

Of course, that first release of Microsoft Arcade is much older. Way before MAME. I was thrilled to have it and be able to play those games again at the time. Apparently I was thrilled enough to hold on to it.

 

Perhaps if I dig around a little more I'll find my old AMTEX versions of Eight Ball Deluxe and Royal Flush from the mid 90s. For pinball recreations, that was about all there was. Now here we are, setting up virtual reality systems.

I just received my kit from Jason after requesting it about 5 days ago. Unreal...simple...easy to use. He went ABOVE and BEYOND my expectations. In fact, the packaging was nice and the quality of each piece is like they came directly from a big time manufacturer.

Thanks! that cab in video was my first build. ive made a few more cabs since then and they are much better!
