Still waiting for my Virtuacab to arrive. Have downloaded all the tables, roms, and media packs I will want once it arrives. Wondering about these videos---not sure what they do. I assume that they might show a "game in play" when the cabinet is on but no games being played. Can someone clarify? And do you think it's worthwhile to use them? Will they enhance my cabinet experience?

When you browse through Hyperpin, you will normally see a static picture of the selected table. If a video for this table is available, Hyperpin will show the video instead of the picture. Most videos are without sound.

Just adds eye candy to your Hyperspin menu when scrolling thru.  Looks good with the videos...

Agreed - personally, I don't use any videos.

HyperPin looks good with just the screen shots of the tables, and not downloading or creating videos spares a lot of storage space and time.

The do look nice.  I went a while without and have now added them.  They are larger and take longer to download but they add a little bit to hyperpin I think.

They are nice when the cabinet is idle, but be aware they use more memory, and make table browsing slower

I shrink the size of the videos so that they are not so large.  I use the following to reduce the video size to about 1/5 without a noticeable quality loss on my system which is running at 1080p.

Install ffmpeg and then you can resize them with:

ffmpeg -i [Original_File] -threads 0 -vcodec libx264 -b:v 5000000 -an -y [Resized_File]

Obviously substituting the [Original_File] and [Resized_File] with your correct values.

Note: this produces a video with no sound.  That is the -an parameter.

Circo at emumovies.com has recently created a new full set of hyperpin videos which are about 1/10th the size of the originals.  He's used some new encoding equipment to shrink the size of the vids without loss of quality.  You can grab them at the emumovies website.

If you're using the very latest HS then you need mp4.

Hi,

Lets get this right. You need help with HyperPIN which is the pinball frontend not Hyperspin the arcade frontend correct?

Videos are .f4v. Here is the portion (not full) of the Hyperpin Settings.ini file: Just edit the settings to match your installs:

[Main]
Version             = 0.5.0.0
Starting_Genre      = All Games

[Video]
Playfield_Monitor   = Primary
Playfield_Rotation  = 270
Backglass_Monitor   = Secondary
Quality             = BEST
Table_Video_Enabled = true
Table_Video_Offset  = 0
Use_Backglass       = true
Backglass_Image_x   = 0
Backglass_Image_y   = 0
Backglass_Image_w   = 1280
Backglass_Image_h   = 1024
Backglass_Image_r   = 0
Backglass_Delay     = 0

[Future Pinball]
Show_Games          = true
Exe                 = Future Pinball.exe
Path                = C:\Hyperpin\Future Pinball\
Table_Path          = C:\Hyperpin\Future Pinball\Tables\
Table_Video_Path    = C:\HyperPin\Media\Future Pinball\Table Videos\
Table_Image_Path    = C:\HyperPin\Media\Future Pinball\Table Images\
Backglass_Image_Path= C:\HyperPin\Media\Future Pinball\Backglass Images\
Exe                 = Future Pinball.exe

[Visual Pinball]
Show_Games          = true
Path                = C:\HyperPin\Visual Pinball\
Table_Path          = C:\HyperPin\Visual Pinball\tables\
Table_Video_Path    = C:\HyperPin\Media\Visual Pinball\Table Videos\
Table_Image_Path    = C:\HyperPin\Media\Visual Pinball\Table Images\
Backglass_Image_Path= C:\HyperPin\Media\Visual Pinball\Backglass Images\
Exe                 = VPinball.exe

Table Videos go in their own folder, so if you dont have the file structure on your PC you need to create folders.

Backglass videos (also .f4v) go in the 'Backglass Images' folder for both pinball games.

Hope this helps.

Webster
