File Name: Cirqus Voltaire (Platinum Edition)_VP9.2_v1.6

File Submitter: Aaron James

File Submitted: 02 Jan 2013

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): JP Salas, Rosve, Aaron James, Teppotee, Koadic, Dozer316
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1997
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Thank you to JP Salas and Rosve for giving myself, Teppotee, and Koadic the permission to update this table.
This is the "Platinum Version" of Cirqus Voltaire.
The night mod has been deleted because, in my opinion, this is much more than just a night mod.
You can now toggle between the original version, night mod, and day/night w/ BMPR Lite....with all the recent table updates!
(4 tables in 1 all easily displayed in the F6 Menu, among many more options)
All script issues should be fixed, with no more errors (F6 Menu)

*Special thanks to Koadic, Teppotee, and Dozer316 (version 1.6)
You guys have made this table so much more than I could have ever imagined.
** Thanks to jimmyfingers for his bmpr script!

I didn't change anything to the script as far as locking balls / multiball.
Did this just happen once, or is this an everytime occurance?
I haven't had this happen, nor should it since nothing has been changed.
Anyone else having a problem like this?

Lol, it's funny, I knew I had to change that back too!!!!
That's what I get for trying to upload a file late late at night.

I originally was going to do a "gold" mod of this (Addams family), but the colors just didn't look right.
Then I was doing an "enhanced" version like Grizz did with TOTAN, but again I just didn't like how it was comin out.
--> that "wand" tool in photo editing is awesome btw.
So then after hours down the drain , I said screw it, maybe a night mod! Haha.
I was going to do more mods to this one, but sometimes simpler is better.

The game should run smooth, but I'm not a VP expert, so if it does leave a comment...

All the best,
Aaron James

Nice mod :)  I don't like most of the night mods since I prefer to see the art, but I think it was nice to see the Ring Master a little more human.

When I made that Ring Master I tried to gave him a little "evil" look :)

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Would it be difficult to animate the Ring Master like how FarSight did on Pinball Arcade?

Maybe it will be easier now using a primitive and VP914+. I'll take a look later.

Thanks for the mod Aaron, the lights in JP's version are cracking so this really lends itself to a night version. Cheers for sharing what you've done  :good:

Hey JP, while you are looking at the Ringmaster I was wondering if you could take a look at the following... In the Pinball Arcade version (and I'm assuming this happens in the real pin but I've yet to play one), sometimes after the RM magnet catches the ball and raises his head, while the RM's head is bobbing around on the spring, the magnet releases the ball and sometimes flings it up and into the highwire centre ball lock. This is called a 'sneaky lock' and you see a DMD animation of a pinball tip-toeing across the screen which is pretty cool!  Would this be easy to implement this somehow?

Cheers  :drinks:

I think that the ringmaster could move like in Farsights version.
Maybe add like 10-20 different RM images of sideways motion.
-- maybe similar to what JP did in medieval madness with the castle.
Possibly weaken the magnet with a large radius for the ball to have more freedom/play from coming off of the magnet.
It would just take some trial and error.
Only thing I don't know about is if the script would need to be changed a lot to satisfy the changes made.

maybe someone can share light on this....

this table was using 'Const cGameName = "cv_20h" 'home rom as the rom, and would NOT keep my volume settings saved.

so i rolled it over to Const cGameName = "cv_20hc", which was what Cirqus_Voltaire_VP913_v1.31FS uses and all was well.

any idea why the free play rom wouldnt keep the volume level saved?
