Genesis VP912 1.01

Version: 1.0.1
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas

Description:
Based on the Gottlieb table from 1986
This is a complete rebuild of my VP8 table, new objects, new graphics, many changes in the script, new plunger, ball rolling and collision sounds, fading lights ++

All the plastics and ramps are transparent.
But I have reduced the effects to a minimum to speed up the table as much as possible.

Both the desktop and the FS versions share the same higher resolution graphics, thanks to a new playfield and to the plastics Leo sent me.

This desktop version has the zoom adjusted for a 16:10 table. If you have a 4:3 screen the just change the XScale to be the same as the YScale

Update 1.01
-Some decorations (bumpers, flippers)
- fixed a bumper wall not working.

strangeleo72 had the idea of adding some decoration to the bumpers, and he got the idea of adding a "G" for Gottlieb on top of them. He made the "G" sent it to me and here it is the result. To use them in the table simply re-import the images bumper_off and bumper_on with these images. Another idea of strangeleo72 was to make the white of the bumpers a little transparent, so I did that too smile.gif

Wow, great idea. My friend asked me to make some decals for his "ugly white drop targets" when he had the game (some years ago), but he never considered changing the bumper caps. Cool idea! I like it!

Thanks JP, in real life though. The Pink ramps are barely transparent at all.

Update 1.01:

This is just a "decoration" update. Updated the table with the new bumpers and real Gottlieb flippers smile.gif
You'll find a folder in the zip files with the old and new bumper images so you may change or mix them, depending on your preferences. There is also a pink plastic image for the ramps if you prefer a less transparent look and little more similar to the real table. I guess most of you will know by now how to replace an image in the VP editor smile.gif
I have also fixed the bumper wall not working.

That is probably a customized table for your area. The real table never had a pin between the flippers that I am aware of.

Very cool. A few things:

1. I downloaded this and it had the G bumpers already installed, is this right?
2. I'm having issues with flipper display (it displays all the white "range" frames), it may just be my terrible computer but I've never seen this with anything else.
3. I was wondering if you would ever get around to these other needy Gottlieb games like Black Hole and TX-Sector :U

1.- Yes, the G is on the bumpers. If you prefer the white ones, then just replace the images in the editor's image manager.
2,. The flippers use several alpha ramps on top to make the flippers look like the Gottlieb's flippers of that era. This requires hardware rendering enabled. If you cannot turn on the hardware rendering then I suggest you to get a new graphic card, the newer Ati cards are quite cheap and they work perfectly.
3. I think those tables were being made by other authors. I had TX-Sector in my to-do list since some people had suggested me to make it. But I have no plans to make just now.

About a pin between flippers: I have not seen any picture of the table with such a pin. I know that on some tables in Europe they used to add that pin, which it wasn't present in the American tables. I have no plans to add that pin, but you can do it yourself if you want, just copy /paste smile.gif
