Hello, I was going to purchase a Microsoft Sidewinder Pro Freestyle from ebay. I noticed most of the auctions on ebay do not include the game port to USB adapter. Is there a source to buy the Game port to USB connector, or does it need to be included in the controller purchase?

Thanks! drinks.gif

still havnt gotten it working in vp. from what i can tell you have to tilt the controller to work analog style. exploring options for how to accomplish that.

Thought I borrow this thread a bit...
have you guys ever noticed that the calibration of the pad gets out of bounds from a boot up,
seconds from a prefect functionally pad befor shout down?

Is there any way to re-set the callibration on each startup?
As of now I have to re-adjust the pad with with my hands each time... sad.gif

Cheers!

@Syco - Try using xpadder. You can map the accelerometer to keystrokes with it.

@gStav - That's odd. I haven't noticed that at all with my setup.

thought that wasnt needed as we could use it for true analog nudging.

It is not but I was having issues getting it to work correctly as a analog device.
It worked but it was making the ball not roll correctly. I probably just had so settings off but nobody stepped up and said they had it working analog.
It works great with xpadder.
@gStav - I haven't noticed that at all with my setup and I based mine off yours.

Upi don't need anything like xpadder to use MS SW FS Pro.
It's true analoge with the latest build of VP. Just

Just set the deadzone in vp options for sensitivity and check the PBW Accelerometer under Physics
(+ the Normal Mounting if you've mounted the pad upside down)

I use the XPadder just to see how much it swings from a nudge and you can also play with a deadzone there just to see it visually.
No need for table action though!

BTW,, seems that I got around my problem by resetting the pad in the config mode.
Guess you can't move it around in the callibrations mode with it fastened in the cab. Har to do full circles! *lol* laugh.gif
Could be the case!

Ok I have to try this. What did you end up setting your dead zone at?
Do you think it is working better as analog device?
What version of VP are you using?

If this works then I will be torn. I want true analog nudging but also want to have an analog plunger. Unfortunately VP will only grab the first controller so I cannot use both the sidewinder and the xbox controller. Maybe someone can make it work with two devices. I have under $30 wrapped up in these two controllers, if I could use both then this would be perfect. Maybe xpadder can send z-axis to vp and have it work. Doubt it though...

I bought one a couple months ago, and finally installed it on Friday. I basically removed the cover and laid the circuit board flat on the base of my cabinet (there is an LED that prevents it from going completely flat). I then took some strips of cardboard and put them over the middle of the circuit board, and then took a strip of flexible metal that has holes in it, that you would use to hold up a piece of pipe or something inside of a house, and screwed it down over the cardboard. The cardboard ensures that the metal doesn't touch the circuit board, and offers a bit of cushion for when it is screwed down. It's held fairly snug.

I calibrated it at that point. Afterward, set my deadzone at around 45%, and set it to be 8 direction and messed with the triangles so the directions they trigger aren't very big. I then chose the corner triangles, left and right, and the upper triangle to be my nudge. Doing this keeps the joystick from registering two or more hits after a strong nudge, while it settles back down to zero. If you leave it at defaults, it will hit the zone at least a couple of times for each nudge, and you will tilt the table really fast.

I took my nanotech out completely. At the moment, I can't even fit it in place because I modded my flipper switch. I'm thinking I might just use the push button instead of a plunger. It works well and I won't have to mod any of the tables.

i was thinking of maybe ordering one, cost being the major deterrent. did you not like yours or was it a matter of fitting?

I wasn't extremely happy with it. I know others like it, but I want to come up with something different. I think I really would only want it for aesthetics, but then again so many pins just have a launch button, what is the difference?
