I'm sure this has been done before, but I thought I would share my 3-way nudge setup with 1 tilt bob. The 3 screws will be attached to separate ipac inputs and the top connector will be the ground. The screws should make it easy to fine tune the nudges. I will be installing this tonight, hopefully it works well.

I used the exact same way when I built my cab.
Still works a treat.

Where did you source all the parts for this? I really want to replicate this. Or better yet, want to build me one? =P

I had a friend with some machining skills make it. I drew him a quick sketch and he knocked it out fairly quickly. You could easily do this with wood and a hole saw, but I thought this would be better. If you want specific measurements I can try to provide that.

I installed this quickly last night and had no issues calibrating it. I used the code here: http://www.hyperspin...mp;postcount=25
for my core.vbs and set tiempofiltro to 1000 to avoid double nudges.

I originally had the 2 tilt bob setup for left and right nudges and was having a hard time calibrating it, getting wrong side to nudge, double nudges. This method is far better and requires less adjustment and annoyance than the 2 bobs.

It seems to be working very well at the moment.

I was contemplating something like this but this is still on/off in each direction vs something like an accelerometer that is speed/pressure sensitive. Or perhaps I am missing something ? I am still a noob at this stuff.

Class A job on the design of this....

Someone correct me if I am wrong... I believe VP only detects if the nudge button was hit, like an on/off switch. The force of the nudge is predetermined in the table settings. A velocity sensitive accelerometer wouldn't be able to tell VP the force of the nudge, just whether a nudge has happened or not. The velocity adjustment on the accelerometer would only help in calibrating the force at which it takes to trigger a nudge, much like adjusting the screws on my setup.

For the money ($6 for tilt bob vs. $35 for accelerometer) this method is dummy proof, easy to troubleshoot, and doesn't come with the headaches of the accelerometer software settings/calibration that I've been reading about.

I am hoping your wrong......

When you nudge a real table the physics of the ball vary with how hard you nudge the table. I was thinking that an acellerometer would be able to send two pieces of data to the table.
1. "how hard has it been hit".
2. Table has been hit.

BTW your bob looks like a million bucks not $6

Thanks for posting this jeff, I had the same design in my head so it's great to see someone has already built it and has it working.... time to head into the workshop

My cab is about 90% complete. I have built something similar although much simpler in design. It works OK.

Looks great Jeff - could you post dimensions, and where about have you mounted in your cab ? :-) Cheers Buzz

Did some of you guys also try other variants of the nudging code in the vbs scripts for this setup?

Cause i'm still scratching my head which variant is the best for this tilt bob setup (there is a "default" one, the old one by blur that is mentioned above, and the new one by blur and a new one by rob (see: http://www.vpforums....showtopic=23576)).

Tweaking vbs core code just makes me cringe considering you have to remember that you added code to the file when you update the vbs core file. Like just recently i had to update vbscripts because the latest JP Haunted House table required it.

I'm looking for a mechanical solution that restricts the rebound effect that this VBS code is trying to prevent.

The new core prevents these changes from being overwritten by moving the custom nudge to a separate file..

I am also looking for a simple solution to prevent rebound. I have tried adhesive backed foam insulation tape. No good, it increased the bounce back. My next trial will be using self adhesive magnetic strip that is not strong enough to hold the bob but will eliminate or slow down the bounce back. Am i on the right track?

They are handling it here with code. I'm trying to avoid that.

The VP8 nudge does and would work, though it seems to compare the open source VP8 code can't be considered to be included in the next VP build as the hill is to high to climb. :/
