Hello,

           Spent 3 weeks getting my new cabinet setup.. Everything was working well.. Then out of the blue Visual Pinball stopped using the buttons it was clearly setup to use in the setting.. I have a KeyWiz setup and know for a fact what buttons do what, everything works a treat in Future Pinball and everything checks out fine when I goto the device and test. But when I open visual pinball and load a table, ones I have been using for weeks, it simply does not use the buttons it is setup to use.  I did a complete system restore.. Have nothing on the computer except visual pinball.. SAME RESULTS.. if I select Override Default Layout, buttons work as they should, but then the physics of the table and the ball do not seem correct.

Looking for some guidence, as I start completely over..

Really hoping for some thoughts from the community on this.. Surely I am not the only one who something like this has happened to..

Are you using PinballX to launch the tables?  PinballX has an annoying function that will overwrite the VP setting to it's own.  In the setups of PinballX says something likr override setups

Also make sure you are using the correct visual pinball exe file for the correct type of table you are playing.  Example VP9 tables use VP9exe etc  There is nothing I know of that will affect the physics except for the VP exe file

Does a normal keyboard work as expected with VP, or is that also screwed up like the KeyWiz?

Are you VP Preferences->Keys settings as expected or did they change on you.  Post a screenshot

The Keyboard stuff is normal.. and works fine with the keyboad, as expected..  The joystick setting work as expected ONLY IF you select Override Default Layout..  with that unselected, things are wonky..

Cant post a screenshot at the moment as that PC is not available..

Thanks for the input guys..

The issue happens when just running Visual Pinball, not being launched through PinballX and it is a .vpx table, Eight Ball Deluxe by Bord, a recommendation from GTXJoe a few days ago..  It was happening on all versions of Visual Pinball

and on all table, before things got reset.. At this point, I just want one table to work "normal".. sigh.. :-)

Wanted to post an update..  So, I did a COMPLETE reinstall of WIndows 10, as in fdisk the hard drive, boot from usb, COMPLETE reinstall.. Did that with only 2 monitors plugged in to my 1060 via Display port and with only my GP Wiz attached via a USB 2.0 port..  Got windows going, updated NVidia drivers, made sure Display 1 was portrait (TV), Display 2 was landscape (Backglass) and was just to the right of Display 1.. Downloaded Visual Pinbal setup 4.. ran though the install, grabbed my roms, and my table, got them where they go.. Disabled UAC and Sticky Keys, Ran Visual Pinballx as administrator, setup my joystick buttons as I know they should be and fired up a game.. Everything worked perfectly and this was without Override Default Layout checked.. So everything worked, perfectly as it should!! Then I plugged in my virtuapin device so I could use my plunger, fired up table and bang, all the joystick buttons now acting like they did, the way this whole freaking mess started.. Unplugged the virtuapin device, buttons work as they are setup in Visual Pinball..  While I have not began the process to try and find a fix, I did want to update this post, as I feel the issue has been found without question, just need to find the solution.  :-)

Problem is solved.. Here is what worked for me..  I have a GPwiz and VirtuaPin Controller both in my system, I choose to install the buttons on the GPwiz and just have the plunger connected to the VirtuaPin. Initially I had connected my buttons to the GPwiz as Button 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.. No particular logic, just skipped a connection in between so I could make sure I did it right, no shorts, whatever.. Everything seemed fine, you know, until it didn't..

My Solution was to wire up the buttons of the GPwiz as if it was a VirtuaPin..  So..

Left Flipper = Button 10

Right Flipper = Button 2

Start = Button 9

Launch = Button 1

Quit = Button 7

While I have only tested this on one table, I can assure you that it is working as desired and I did not have to have

Override Default Layout checked..  Gonna add a few more tables, see how things go, as I have a long way to go to

get back to where I was, but hey, we signed up for this stuff right.. :-)
