Announcing PinDMD v3!

28 Sep 2015

Posted By russdx in Site News & Announcements

Hi Guys

Been working on this for a while now. I has no intention of making another version of pinDMD until I came across a nice little DMD which is identical in size to a real pinball DMD and better yet each pixel is perfectly spaced (no more grid lines!) The quality of these DMDs seem very very good!

What's new in pinDMD3?

- It now FULL 24bit RGB colour!
- Supports all the existing pinDMD2 features / games / roms.
Extras included*
- 4 / 16 / alphanumeric roms can all be coloured.
- Rainbow mode (cycle through colours of the rainbow)
- Set the game to any colour you want (the firmware uses your current pinMame DMD colour settings)
- pinMame colourize colours also work on 4 shade games.
- Raw 24bit RGB video.
- pinDMD is now built into the DMD unit it self (one unit)
- Plug and play device. (plug in the 5v power (disk drive molex), plug in the USB cable) and your good to go!
- Will fit any current DMD cut out (exact DMD dimensions, no large lcds to try and fit / hide)
- Dimensions 80*320mm
- No grid lines 4096 perfectly spaced rgb leds.
- I2C interface.
- IR sensor interface.
- Real DMD interface (purchased firmware upgrade)

Other features include 128bit encrypted firmware LOCKED to the pinDMD hardware.
Encrypted frame data, Encrypted firmware init request upon game launch. And a firmware update dongle for any future firmware upgrades. I have taken security quite seriously this time round :)

I will start a preOrder page quite soon to gage how much interest there is for this device. I have pretty much finished the prototype and 90% done with the firmware. And look to put it into production within a few months if I receive enough interest in it.

Pricing it is quite hard at the moment as I am still gathering production quotes / parts. I will get back with a rough idea ASAP (few days) I want to create it as cheaply as possible without going broke! :)

Here is a rather long promo video showing off its features. Please exclude the crappy colour the colours do not come out well on camera but look a million times better in real life! Also any flickering is due to refresh rate of the camera this can not be seen in real life.

(youtube is still processing so only available in low res, high res will be available once youtube has processed it)

Let me know what you think :)

PRICE

$299.95

Hi pinball fans.

This is a really bad news for everyone who expected UP3D to be a Vaporware: BETA IS OUT!

We invented a new kind of software: a Waitware :D.

We are really proud to release this new version, coming with a lot new features and its inevitable bugs ;):

DOF2, BuiltIn Launcher, Improved Physics, original table API... and a lot, lot more.

The software, the full changelog and installation instructions can be downloaded on http://www.unit3dpinball.net.

Here is a list of the Beta compatible tables today (in "download > tables" section of http://www.unit3dpinball.net).

- Indiana Jones Pinball Adventures

- Scared Stiff

- The Addams Family

- Attack From Mars

- Terminator 2

- Dr Dude

- Black Knight 2000

- Class of 1812

- Baby Pacman

- Bad Cats

- Abra Ca Dabra (non VPM)

Feel free to rehost those files anywhere to provide a worldwide better access.

We would like to thank all UP supporters and VPForums for hosting our discussions and we really hope you will enjoy this version.

Pinballistically,

The French Pinball Team,

Louizou & BilboX
